I am so happy to have this movie as part of my movie/dvd collection and also my birthday Present which my birthday was on September 11th so happy belated birthday to me... such a 1980s classic even though I was born in 1994 but still I love this movie Huge fan of Matthew Broderick... 🥳🎂🍰🎁🎊🎉🥰🤠😎💿
I've always loved this movie! takes me back to my military days when I worked at NORAD 😊 DVD is in excellent condition and arrived on time.. I will order from this company again 😊
This is one of those movies that seems almost prophetic these days, when it comes to considering the pros and cons of the fast growing embrace of AI technology. Computer software (even the software that makes up AI) is only as good as the human beings who write the programs. Unlike the inventor of "Joshua" in this story, its does not take long before hundreds of different programmers have their hands in the "works" of the thoughts that the machine's brain reads. It would be nice if, like this AI computer called "Joshua," only one inventor/programmer ever touched the given AI's code. But is that realistic? Sometime, ask a programmer what "spaghetti code" is. What if " What if this movie's computer, Joshua, had several different programmers over time make changes to the AI software's code, how would this movie's story have played out then? What would our hero have done then? I recently went back and watched this movie again. What if they had put our slightly confused AI computer friend into a supersonic jet fighter, all by itself, armed and with no human being onboard the aircraft, what would this story look like then? An interesting consideration, just for fun of course. Watch the movie again, if a few years have passed since you first saw it. It raises some interesting issues that wiser minds than my own seem unconcerned about. Seems so anyway. Always a fun movie to escape into. ...A littleTwilight Zone music called for here.
Even tho this movie was made 25 yrs ago, the threat is still there. Scarier now as most warfare is done remotely (drones, computers, satellites, etc)
Classic movie from my youth beings back memories
Classic movie that brings you back to the old days of computers when only a few people even understood how to use them. More importantly, a throwback to Cold War fears and the standard story of the time. Matthew Broderick and Ally Sheedy are adorable, and it reminds one of why they became famous in the first place. Supporting cast are a who's who of character actors and future stars. Love this movie. Bought it for nostalgia and glad I did.
A classic for any seasoned IT programmer who remembers the 'big mainframes with all the blinking lights'. Its comical to see what they anticipated we'd be using 25 years ago. A mix of suspense and comedy for anyone who appreciates the way things were 25 years ago.
This is a classic!
Shared this with my 8th Grade class and they all enjoyed it. Sparked some good discussion about AI and the role computers play in our world.
a movie from my youth and still enjoy it!
