GARY GRANT %26 BETSY DRAKE WRE MARRIED WHEN THEY MADE THIS FILM IN 1952. THEY WERE ALSO TOGETHER IN EVERY GIRL SHOULD BE MARRIED 1949.1940'S A VERY GOOD FILM ABOUT FOSTER PARENTS.
I was very surprised my 7 & 10 year old grandchildren sat and watched this movie even though it was black & white. Both loved it and then I played it for my friends children when they were visiting and they liked it alot. I think it is a good movie for all ages that has a lot of heart to it. Nothing you see in movies today.
Best Movie for a Cary Grant Collector
Excellent movie, transferred well to dvd, exemplary and well acted..great cast
I"m thrilled to find this movie in DVD and to be able to buy it through Wal-Mart too! This is a fine family classic film starring the late great Cary Grant with his 1st wife Betsy Drake. This is a very funny family movie.
Great Movie decent price thanks
Cary Grant, as always, is brilliant in this story of a man whose wife takes in every stray dog and cat- not to mention an orphan or two. They already have three children, which he feels to be quite enough, but his wife asks if they can't just take a little girl for a couple of weeks ... Then it's a small boy who's just going to go on vacation with them ... As you'd expect from such a plot, there's plenty of laughter as well as plenty of heartwarming scenes. The tender scenes don't dominate the movie making it too mushy, and the laughs aren't obvious and predictable: like when the boy they're adopting announces he's leaving and in frustration the mother tells him, "Fine, but don't take anything with you that we've given you." A few minutes later one of the other children comes in with the information that he's outside- naked. When she rushes out with an apron she snatches up to put on him, his defense is that he doesn't have any clothes except the ones they'd gotten him, and she said not to take things they'd bought with him. lol Altogether it's a delightful movie of the type that they unfortunately don't make any more. I'm on a tight budget, but this was money well spent.
I remember liking this film as a child--especially Cary Grant's lesson on the "facts of life." Unfortunately, the 1952 film didn't stand the test of time. It was too sweet for 2018!
