Bought it for my 5 year old since he's into legos and he loved it. I was able to buy it online for $63 and it's so worth the price, yes you do have to buy characters separate but they rage from 15-30$ ands it's much better than buying a new game for 40-50$. Lego dimensions is basically a game with different worlds and like other similar games you go trough levels finding gold blocks but in this game every character opens up a new world! Not only a new world but the characters come with a vehicle which makes the game even more fun since each level has beat the clock race to add on top of everything. After collecting coins you are then able to upgrade the vehicles into 3 different options which maximizes coin collection. So far we gone trough ghostbusters, scoobydoo, the lego movie, the simpsons, chima, the wizard of oz, back to the future, Lord of the rings, DC comics, ninjago, and doctor who but we're collecting characters to enter jurassic world, midway arcade, and portal. Overall it's become the only game my son will play, he's moved aside super mario, yoshi whooland, and disney infinity to name a few. Would HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for hours of fun!!! On a side note you do have to put it all together, they are legos so give your kids a 30 minutes headsup to complete it so they don't get frustrated. Since my did but at the end it's totally worth it.
My grandson was up all night playing with this gift. He loved it. Great combination of both of his favorite activities.
Daughter loves this games as you can expand with many characters from different genres of cartoons.
My son has wanted Lego dimensions but a lot of the stores in my area were sold out and because they r discontinuing the Wii u they would not order it for me! But thanks to Walmart I was able to get it and Free Shipping! My son was so happy! Thanks Walmart
And that's not a lie! We got a Wii U for Christmas and I got LEGO Dimensions. It was what I wanted most, and it's not a disappointment! The Gateway has astonishing detail and a great selection of minifigs! The Toy Pad lights up and changes colors, and you use it VERY much throughout the game. The game itself has a mixture of humor (very little CRUDE humor so far, but I've only finished the second level) and excitement! It has an excellent co-op, especially with no split screen, due to the gamepad! I like free-play even more than the levels - the worlds are so cool! But, you MUST get at least one Expansion Pack to unlock free-play. Overall, I encourage you to buy this game if you have a 32GB Wii U!
My kids absolutely love this game. My 11 year old used his birthday money to purchase this and the Dr. Who add-on pack. They say it is now their favorite Wii U game, and if I'd let them, they'd play it constantly. They love finding new worlds and completing challenges. They are currently saving their money to buy more character packs. We'd definitely recommend this to others.
Despite some bad reviews of this product, I decided to purchase the Wii U Starter Pack. I'm glad I did because I really love the game and how it works on Wii U. My sister and I have had amazing fun on this game, even though it can be challenging sometimes. Thank you again Lego for a wonderful product!! I assure you that this will be a great purchase for any fan of Lego!!
This is a great game and a lot of fun to play. I bought it for the the Wii U and was worth it. The extras are pretty costly, but they are fun to build. Friends enjoy playing this game just because it brings back different video games and movies in the levels.
We bought this for our 5yr old for Christmas. There was no way he could put the legos together but his 11yr old brother did while he watched. That kept them busy and interacting with each other. When it came time to play my 11yr old enjoyed it as much as my 5yr old. It was pretty entertaining for them and something they could do together.
Don't have first hand knowledge because I don't play it. But my daughter loves it. She is very smart and loves the logistics and challenge of building things.
