Waste King Legend Series Garbage Disposer 1/3 HP EZ-Mount - Continuous Feed - White — Residential Use, Standard Application

This is a very good garbage disposer at this price range. Low noise compared to insinkerator that I have replaced. Easy to install. Most of my time was spent on Installing a power outlet as this one comes with power cord. Followed instructions from http://www.handymanhowto.com/2010/11/18/how-to-replace-a-garbage-disposal-part-1/ I did not used any putty as mine is a steel sink.

I am impressed by the quality of the product. It is much quieter than the insinkerator disposal that I replaced, less vibration and easy to install, fit perfectly with the existing plumbing, didn't have to change any of the plumbing. The disposal was wired with a standard 3 prong cord, unfortunately, the disposal I was replacing was hard wired, I just had to go in and clip the wires to the cord. It was difficult to get the retaining plug out of the housing. I had to cut it and then pull it thru the housing. I do wish the instructions for hard wiring would have suggested an easier way of getting the cord out of the housing. It only took about 20 minutes to install the disposal including removing the cord and hard wiring the unit. It worked perfectly. The unit appears to be solid, well built and of high quality materials. I am very happy with the ease of installation and I am much happier having a quieter disposal.

I bought this to replace an internally leaking Insinkerator brand; and I have only used Insinkerator disposals prior to buying this Waste King. It was simple to install. It is much quieter than the Insinkerators that I have used with much less vibration. The sink is an inexpensive stainless steel model and the Insinkerators would cause the sink to vibrate. There is no such vibration with the Waste King. I also think that it is grinding better than the Insinkerator it replaced. When I removed the Insinkerator it had large pieces of cantaloupe skin stuck in the outlet port; I frequently had to use a plunger on the sink with the disposal to unclog it. I found that the Insinkerator had a small rectangular outlet while the Waste King has a larger round outlet that is 2 to 2.5 times larger. Hopefully the Waste King is grinding better with a larger outlet port and I will not have to use a plunger again. But the remaining question is "how long will it last"? Only time will tell.

I got this item in record time of 3 days my son-in-law installed it very easy to install. He had it installed in approximately an hour. That is also including the time of removing the old one. I turned it on it is very quiet. Runs great and very pleased with the item. I did go on and look at reviews and the good reviews were exactly right and that was my deciding factor of purchasing the waste King garbage disposal. I would recommend this item.

I must admit, I was a little wary about buying this unit because of its low price but I was happily surprised. The Waste King Legend 1/3 HP works as well as my old 3/4 HP Insinkerator and much quieter. Very easy to install both to the drain and the dishwasher. I completed the removal of the old unit and installation of the new within 20 minutes. To be fair, I have only used it for 4 weeks now and all of our sink garbage are small, biodegradeable pieces of veggies and leftovers. I would rank this unit highly for the first month of operation and hopefully the good quiet running will continue.

Pros: - price/quality ratio is excellent (if you try following all the rules for a regular waste disposal unit [don't do this and don't do that] you quickly understand it can't actually do what you expect from it and will serve mostly as a sink plug), thus the cheaper the better; - easy to install (1), no tools needed except for a screwdriver; - easy to install (2), light and compact; - flexible yet stable mounting allows adjusting to avoid vibrations; - quiet; - "2-year in-home service warranty", a feature of doubtful value for a $50 product, which is easier and less hassle to replace by yourself rather than messing around with "the service"; however, it should be mentioned as a plus. Cons: - rubber flange gasket is too thin to provide reliable sealing in all types of sinks, works fine in flat-bottom ones (e.g., stainless steel), in mine having a funnel-like mouth it leaked (however, this was easily fixed using an additional filler ring hand-cut from a rubber PC mouse pad [don't forget to peel off the upper plastic layer, both sides of the ring shall have rubber surfaces to provide proper adhesion to the sink surface); - support ring and sink flange are made of plastic, implying shorter lifetime (however, if the parts are available as stand-alone products or an assembly and inexpensive, they can be replaced easily). Overall, Waste King 111 Legend Series 1/3 HP EZ-Mount Garbage Disposer is a great product for the price. Even if it's not as durable as more expensive products, I prefer to have a brand new unit every several years compared to living with a more durable but old one for decades at the same cost of ownership.

I have not experience as handyman at all and was able to successfully install it. Highly recommended it works very good no need for a bigger one since we are 3 people in the house and it does the work perfectly.

Being a former contractor, I've installed many disposals in my lifetime Most of them have been Insinkerator brand, and my first experiance with Waste King. Always used the 1/3hp disposals, mainly for price and they did the job required. Just installed this several days ago. As I have two bad knees, I can no longer get under the sink, so with instruction from me, the wife hooked it up. We found the EZ mount bracket easy to use, and better than the old screw on type that Insinkerator had. If I would have been able to hook it up myslef, probably could have done it in 15 minutes. Took the wife about 25, as she had trouble lifting the disposal up so she could lock in the dogs that hold it to the mounting ring. Several things we like about this. Number one, it came with the cord already attached. Every disposal I ever hooked up in the past, I had to wire in the cord. Number two, the wife loves how quiet the disposer is compared to the old 1/3hp Insinkerator. The old unit was nearly twice the size of this one, and both are 1/3hp. It's been running for several days now. No leaks, no problems. Excellent little disposal and you cannot beat the price. I don't recall the exact time of shipping, but between 1-2 weeks. I only gave it four stars on durability, as haven't had it long enough to comment. One word of caution-Make sure if you hook up a dishwasher, to knock out the plastic plug where you hook-it up to the disposal!

I am always up for a challenge. I'm a beginner-level with home repair projects. This literally took 20 minutes. It required no special tools and it came with all the fittings and hardware I needed to complete the job. I was impressed with the instructions and how easy it went in. If you've got an under the sink power outlet, it's a snap. No need for a $$ plumber! (Maybe I missed my calling ...)

sink gasket is crap. Use another method. Install to sink can be tricky and composite gasket gets a beating. Trap connection is not plug and play so you will need to use your plumbing skill some. It is a good device. For the money, it was a good buy. Successfully installed this.
