I love these drives! These drives are just a workhorse. Very cost effective when you need to have space for storage.
Quick and reliable for a mechanical drive and able to hold my entire Steam library. I use tiered storage from NVME OS, NVME VMs, SATA SSDs quick games, mechanical bulk storage and this fit the bill
Solid performer for video backup. Used in a removable dock for video media backup on video editing station. Cheapest cost per GB for this purpose and fast & reliable. Will buy more.
So far so good. Easy installation. Hopefully it will last as long as the old one did!
I have 2 of these running in a desktop without raid. They are super fast, but most importantly very reliable.
Fast drive does make a slight clicking sound when reading/writing to disk
Great drive as always. Works great with FCPX for rendering
Long-term WD user. Many years. Very surprised, disappointed by this HDD. In no way was this item subjected to any manufacture's testing. Arrived, would not format. On boot, made a CONTINUING buzzing noise like a very dull power saw blade trying to cut hard wood. Ran tests - the "bad sector" count just kept going up and up - one sector after another. Use as a paperweight or return? Not a hard choice. Returned for refund.
I'm not blaming this on anyone but I am just stating what happened. When I installed the hard drive it would not format. After several weeks of attempts to bypass the error, it stated that the hard drive had too many bad sectors. It took several weeks because I did not have time to troubleshoot the issue due to my work schedule. I did not contact WD with the issue because honestly, I just kept forgetting.
One star because the drive was DOA. Getting a replacement was easy however they should've expedited the replacement. Entire replacement process took two weeks. Otherwise the replacement drive is working perfectly
