This hard drive is awesome. I actually brought one for my Xbox and had to buy another for the PS5. With this hard drive I'm able to save a ton of games on it and not have to sacrifice deleting any of my old games. The upload and download is pretty quick and I am still able to play certain games right off the hard drive. Definitely a good buy. One off thing that some people might dislike is that it can be a little loud at times depending on where it is placed but that's the only downside (when I say loud you would have to have nothing else on or running for you to truly hear it).
Nice way to gets lots of storage In a way you wouldn't expect f
I only use Western Digital drives on my pc's, external drives and dvr's because they are top quality, fairly priced and have super customer service and support. I was using a regular external drive and though it worked ok upgrading to the WD Black made a huge difference in playing the games stored on it. It is much faster and smoother with no hiccups while gaming. Well worth it in my opinion.
Contains a 7200 RPM, 256 MB Cache, Drive HGST HUS728T8TALE6L4 Inside. I was able to reach ~250 MB/s transfer speeds on my mac when transferring a large file from an SSD. Comes formatted as exFAT and works out of box for Mac, Windows, and some Linux distributions as well.
This 8TB driver is holding all my single player games especially the huge ones. Currently have about 2TB space left and playing games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion and Final Fantasy 15 for example. No longer do I have to decide what I need to uninstall, my next game is ready to play when I am done with one. Have about 300+ games installed on this drive. Best purchase ever.
I do NOT use this for my game console. I use it for computer storage. With that said, it functions as it should - as a backup storage solution. I am using it along with a couple other drives to backup photos, videos, and other important/critical files. Redundancy is imperative, so I use software called Beyond Compare to verify that all my drives have identical backups.
I only had it a few weeks, just have to wait and see how the long-term use goes. I have had a number of different external hard drives (SeaGate and Western Digital) all of them seem to be unreadable after a few years of use. Found if I remove the hard drives from their case and install it inside my desktop computer, I often could save the files, but not always.
Works as expected. Speed seems good. Very loud though. This isn't as noticeable if it's across the room. But, if it's next to you, it's very annoying. It also seems to have a mind of it's own at time, if left plugged in all the time. Randomly spins up and down, even when Xbox is off. So, I unplug it when not needed.
I had to burn through my warranty just to get a working drive, as the first one they sent was dead on arrival. Im a little disappointed, and if this new drive gives out in the warranty period, I wont be purchashing a WD drive again.
I love the way the drive looks. The led bar is nice and the industrial design goes above and beyond expectations. It is quite big though and it is LOUD. It clicks continuously during read/write but the worse is when it wakes up. There is a jarring, desk shaking shudder everyone it wakes up from stand by. I'm taking a chance by keeping it but I would probably pick a different model is i had known about the noise.
