I love it. It works great, heats up quickly but I have to plug directly into the wall outlet, the extension does not work with it. It leaves grill marks just like others and it's easy to clean. My husband passed recently and he did the BBQ with propane but we get a lot of wind on our deck and it was always blowing our. Plus the propane scared me. The electric it perfect for me.
This is my first electric grill. I did not have high expectations, having used gas for many, many years. However, I am happy to report that this electric grill far exceeded my expectations. It heats up quickly, and achieves temperatures I need to grill everything. It is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend it.
What a pleasant surprise this electric grill has been. We have lived in a condo for the past 16 years and the bylaws were just recently changed to allow electric grills. We have had ours for about 6 weeks now and have made burgers, chicken, brats, and Italian sausage. It has worked really well and is a breeze to clean after each use.
It's as good as I'd hoped and significantly better than the George Foreman Grill we had before. It heats up faster and hotter and it's easier to clean. I cut a grilling sheet to fit and it works great.
This is a great electric grill for apartments, condos, etc where you need a small footprint and you can't use gas or propane. The grill gets hot enough to cook in under 10 minutes and maintains heat really well. The cooking grates are quite heavy and retain a lot of heat for searing. I really like that the inside of the hood appears to be lined with some kind of reflective material which concentrates the heat back to your food. I have found that this grill melts and browns cheese on a burger better than the 36 inch natural gas Weber grill that I have at another location, likely due to the difference in the size of the hood and that reflection. The grill is a little small if you are trying to make dinner for 20 at a back yard BBQ, but it is great for a single person or couple.
This is my second one. I had one purchased in 2014 that lasted 11 years. It was still going, and I unfortunately was the reason it quit working. I immediately purchased a second one last Fall. I had always used propane and charcoal and had purchased a condo and only electrics were allowed. I was surprised that food coming off it tasted better than propane and eventually rivaled charcoal after a bit of season from about 5 times of use. Cooks great and it's easy to use.
I have owned at least three of these Q1400 Weber Grills. They heat up quickly and cook well, I like them. That being said, I have needed to replace the heating element after two to three years of intermittent use on EACH of these grills. It always seems more cost effective to buy a new grill on sale than to pay the high cost of a new heating element and replace it. I get my money's worth, so I buy another. I do wish the element lasted longer.
I was excited to change from gas to electric, and have loved Weber products for my whole life, but disappointed the heat is just not enough for the true BBQ experience. I get grill marks on the first side but the unit does not produce or hold enough heat when you turn the meat over and comes out a bit poached.
I like it but the cover will not close tightly. Smoke pours out around the front of the cover when using it. The cover was hard to initially install. The holes for one pin would not line up properly. The other pin went in easily. It appears the one cast little ear that holds the pin in a little crooked. Quality Control should have caught this.
Stopped working after using twice. This was well within warranty time. Contacted Weber and requested a new grill. Customer service asked us to test the controller- we did the test and reported it did not work. Weber informed us they would send a new controller. Weber sent a new heating element instead. Contacted Weber and informed them wrong part was sent- they replied that usually a new heating element will fix the unit. No apology for delays or wrong part. We installed the new heating element and it did not fix the grill. We alerted Weber and they replied they would send a new controller. So still no working grill and waiting for another part.
