Five stars seems like a lot for something so basic, but it's just the right solution for adding smoke to your normal grill
Good quality well made and holds plenty of wood chips to provide a great smoke flavor to what ever we cook.
A great way to add a touch of smokey flavor. It works well on a gas grill, no messing with a charcoal fire. Just light the grill, let it heat up and put the box on the grill with your choice of chips. Smoker box is very well made and should last quite a while. Good product. I would expect nothing less from Weber.
I bought the smoker box about 6 months ago and have used it many times. I wanted to smoke fish occasionally and didn't want another appliance that I would only use once in a while. The smoker box is the perfect solution. It is easy to use and a variety of wood chips are readily available. Smoking fish is a little tricky, as you need enough heat to light the chips and create the smoke, but not too much heat to over cook the fish. A little trial and error is required, but once you get it, the results are terrific. I light one of the three burners and put the smoker box filled with soaked wood chips over that burner. I put the fish on the other side of the grill. Smoking for 45 minutes to an hour usually does the trick. I mostly smoke salmon, but have also done bluefish, to make a delicious smoked fish pate. I highly recommend this product. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that managing the heat is a little more difficult than having a dedicated smoker.
Glad I purchased this smoker box. I was able to smoke our turkey on the new Weber grill like I used to do on the old grill. Only problem occurred when the wood chops dried, then they caught fire! Lots of smoke then.
Bought 5 months ago if I have time to soak the wood chips it's ok Just don't like the time it takes to heat up the chips plus using the gas
The smoker worked okay but I expected it to be of higher quality than this was. The corner of the smoker lifted up and has not returned to it's normal shape. I am not impressed with the construction of the smoker.
I bought this during the summer of 2017 and used it but the box kept getting too hot and burning up the wood chips so the smoke was more burn than Applewood.
Well, I soaked the chips for 30 minutes, put the smoker box with chips over the lit side of the grill and after the chips had dried they caught fire and we had ash all over the ribs. Oh, and the heat was set to low.
This box is overventillated. I used it twice and threw it in the trash. Instead of smoldering to produce smoke, the box turned into a ball of flames. I'm going back to my old, not so expensive box. This is the first Weber product that I have been disappointed in.
