Weber Hinged Cooking Grate- 18 inch Chacoal Grill

After reviewing other reviews and comments I was concerned this grate may not fit my grill. The grill is approximately three years old, new in 2019 or 20 and it fits just fine. Also, there were comments about the openings under the hinged section being too small. I didn't find this problematical. Larger openings means less grill space so there has to be a trade off. Overall, this hinged grill is much more practical than the standard.

Makes my weber grill work like new again.

With the hinged ends makes it so much nicer when you want to add wood or more charcoal with out disturbing what you are cooking, highly recomend this product

Used it for first time yesterday to slow cook a 3# brisket (7 hours). The Hinged Grate made it so easy to add new charcoal, and then wood chips, without having to struggle with a whole grate supporting 3# of meat. Would gladly have paid a $30 premium for a hinged grate when grill was new.

If you buy any accessory for your Weber Kettle grill, this is the one. I've used the charcoal rails for indirect cooking, but found it difficult to add charcoal and smoking chips as needed. The hinged grate solves this problem beautifully, and I now have a grill and smoker all in one!

The new grate and hinged grill have brought second-life to my 18” Weber kettle and look forward my first prime steaks when I fire it up in the weeks ahead!

Very nice grill grates. After 14 good years of grilling, my original grates wore out. I was looking to replace them, and these more than fit the bill. I'm looking forward to using the hinge feature on them.

The hinged grate is awesome for adding extra smoking wood or charcoal during cooking. In the Jumbo Joe, however, the space between the grates is a bit tight, so addition of more materials is not as smooth as I had hoped. Nonetheless, I added chunk wood (soaked) for smoke and just left the hinged part open on the fuel side. It did what I needed.

This grate is a "great" idea for either adding charcoal to the grill at the beginning of barbecuing or adding more charcoal later. At the beginning of barbecuing it works especially well with Weber's charcoal baskets which allow you to keep the charcoal on one side of the grill and indirect cook on the other. My only complaint is that they could have hinged the grate closer to the middle to provide a bigger opening to add the charcoal--sometimes i miss and a briquet winds up on the table or the grass. I own two of these and will never go back to a grate that's unhinged!
