The Lumin Compact Electric Grill has been absolutely fantastic for me. Moving in a condominium building where it is forbidden to use a gas or charcoal BBQ i was initially devastated. Most of my acquaintances who had electric BBQ's were very negative about electric Bbqs. I researched all products in this class to determine if there was any product that would satisfy my needs...after years of really exciting bbquing on charcoal and electric bbqs. Reviews of the Lumin really got my attention. True , the Lumin is more expensive than most other products in its class. Also ,YOU HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO COOK on an electric BBq. That is, you cannot keep the cover open and constantly turn the food around. It only takes about 20 minutes to get the temperature up to 650 dec F.,,,,wow...that is HOT. I found that i must open the cover quickly slip my steak(s) close the cover fast and let it cook for 2-3 minutes...rapidly opening the cover the least number of time possible SO NOT TO LOSE THE VALUABLE HEAT. Once you get the hang of it ...if is great BBqing.
Just learning the differences between cooking on electric vs propane, charcoal or a traditional smoker. So far, so good - literally good, and yummy. I purchased it as I no longer have need for my larger double burner Weber gas grill, plus small enough to store inside, thus avoiding the buildup of green and white moldy stuff during the wet dark northwest winters. The only negative so far is that it's so pretty, I hate to get it dirty with the grilling process. 😢
I'm mainly a charcoal griller, but the Lumin Compact's versatility really intrigued me. I added the expansion pack to turn the whole grill into a smoker. St Louis cut ribs came juicy, tender, and Smokey in about 3hours. Really convenient way to cook. Easy to clean is a bonus.
Excellent grill. Unlike older electric grills where I struggled to get temps above 400F, this one easily exceeds 600F on the warmup. The only problem is that because the fire box is shallow (which does help keep the profile of this grill more compact), I seem to be getting a lot of flare-ups. To some extent, this may be an operator problem as I'm still on the early learning curve.
Lumin is a great little grill - easy to use and clean - fits in small spaces - gets really hot and provides flexibility a creativity for your cooking. if you use cooking probes they can enter thur back without crimping the cable. Hold a low heat well. Great for 2 people but we have cooked ribs for 4
I absolutely love my Lumin Black Electric Compact grill. I can't wait to get the griddle so I can start cooking various Korean BBQ dishes on it.
I love this grill - just going to start to use it so I have been reading up on it and looking at you tubes .... I used to have the other type with the propane, but decided that this one is for me!
Works great its our first electric grill. We go way back to the smoky joe days. Always a quality products from webber.
Provides awesome flavor, but be aware of flareups, especially at high temperature and using the center area of the grill. Cleaning is cumbersome because to do it right you need to remove the coil. (I haven't tried cleaning the lid yet but I think it will be a harder job) 😬
Hard to set the heat dial to get a constant temperature. Have to trial and error the setting but the heat input seems to rise and fall over a 10 minute or so time. The cooker is ok but can't keep a constant temperature within 20 degs or so.
