Weber Performer Premium 22 Inch Diameter Charcoal Grill Black

I love all the work space and storage, being used to the regular kettle. The smart controller works fine I wish you could just monitor the grill temp with it. Maybe a future software update could add that feature. I added a temp gauge to the cover when using without the controller. Overall I'm happy with this grill.

Overall the grill is exceptional the only drawback is the new “temp controller” and fan to hold a temperature. System is a bit spotty but using the grill as a regular 22 kettle is normal and very very good.

Disclaimer: I've owned my Performer for nearly 20 years (2007 model). I love so much about this grill. The reason for writing this is that my performer has the gas ignition and I use it all of the time. I've always used a chimney in conjunction with the gaslighter. Even when firing up my Weber Smokey Mountain Grill I roll out the Performer and use the gas ignition to light my chimney of coal. When using my Smokey Joe, the same. I'm sorry to see the gas ignition retired for the performer as I don't like using paper in the chimney as it creates light paper ash that gets all over the food every time I open the lid. I won't talk about lighter fluid.

The assembly of this took a bit of time, however the instructions were very clear to follow. I loved the charcoal taste from a grill like this as opposed to propane. It's just a great addition for any family who loves to do backyard barbecues. I also loved the added feature of the thermometer that I will use for smoking. This grill performed beyond my expectations and I would definitely recommend this grill.

The design is smart overall, I love the hanger for the lid because it hold the heavy lid while we do the flipping. The removable tray in the bottom is genius because we can easily get rid of debris. The multi-layer storage is nice for equipment and food storage while grilling. You have to plug in the grill to an outlet if you want to use temperature control via the app. This is great for people who have temperature preference and are tech savvy. Our package came without some small pieces for the wheels but it's not a big deal, still an excellent product!

My husband said it's not hard to set up but it takes time because it has a lot of parts to be put together, but the instructions are very easy to understand so just be patient. It has a built in premium cart so lots of room underneath to store big accessories. It cooks perfectly steak every time with built in lid thermometer. The grill has 4 wheels so very easy to move around and storage .

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to try the Weber 22” Performer Premium Smart Charcoal Grill. I've only ever owned propane grills, which have always intimidated me a little, so the fact that this was a charcoal grill with smart features really caught my attention. I was hoping it would make grilling feel more approachable for me, and it definitely did not disappoint!! I made my very first rack of ribs on this grill, and they turned out really great! I did have some trouble maintaining a consistent temperature during the cook. I'm not sure if that was user error since I'm new to charcoal grilling or if it had something to do with the grill itself. Thankfully, I was able to recover pretty easily by heating up additional briquettes and adding them to the grill. There might be a bit of a learning curve with this grill, but I think it's something I'll get the hang of with a little more practice. My biggest complaint was actually the assembly. The instructions indicated that set up should take around an hour with two people, but it ended up taking us about three hours to assemble. We found some of the instructions difficult to follow, so I definitely think the assembly process and directions could be clearer. That being said, finally getting everything set up and being able to make a great meal on the grill made the effort feel worth it! Overall, I'm really pleased with the grill and excited to continue learning how to use it. I just think the lengthy assembly process and my experience with temperature control are worth noting. The grill delivers a fault code for the fan very often. It is a result of any little bit of ash or anything else falling into the fan port. very frustrating
