This is my third Smokey Joe Premium (aka the "Gold" model) in nearly 25 years and is the perfect size for my wife and me to grill outdoors year 'round. The grill can be completely "buttoned up" after grilling which conserves on charcoal and minimizes the mess. It's still big enough to cook directly or indirectly so if you're into the "indirect sear" approach to cooking steak then this will still work for you.
This is one of 4 Weber grills I own, and is the smallest. It's perfect for grilling for 2. We also used it for 4 when just serving charcoaled burgers. Love it.
Replaced my 18 inch weber with this. Takes less room and accommodates the small amount of food I cook for one. Easy to clean. Had no issues with getting enough heat from the coals as some others have mentioned. Very happy with this little guy.
This my second mini Weber as I call it. I bought my first one 20 years ago. I changed the grill and gave it to my son. I am a true fan an so are my friends.
Had this grill in my shopping cart for years and finally bought it! Forgot how much I enjoyed charcoal bbq's from the past. Easy to assemble, and works great.
Bought this grill to make with use while camping in our travel trailer. It is typically just my wife and I, and every so often one or two grandkids. So this size is great. Have been experimenting with several cook outs at home before we leave on a 6 week trip. I found that indirect cooking was preferable for some foods as the coals are close to the grate. I was able to make a charcoal divider out of some scrap metal I had at my workbench. I then purchased a grate with sides that fold up so that I can easily add coals. I also purchased a 2nd bottom coal grate that I can lay opposite the original to help prevent too many coals from dropping to the bottom of the kettle. Works out well. Also bought the small Weber chimney to start coals and that works terrifically for both briquets and lump charcoal. Found the Royal Oak Tumbleweed charcoal starters work best. Don't need lots of charcoal for most cooking, and it's ready to cook in 15 minutes. The lid can conveniently rest into the built in cradle while tending food on the grill. Bought the carry case to help with traveling. I keep charcoal, the chimney, charcoal starters, and grilling tools in a medium tote to travel with. I like that this grill is easy to move so that coals can be emptied into a proper container or fire ring. Cleanup and stowing away is easy. Great small grill!
Powerplant of a grill! Small, but big small that will grill even the biggest steaks or roasts. Grilling area can share both hamburgers and hotdogs without needing to wait for space to open. Secure handle that can be easily transported in vehicle without any shifting or even on a bicycle back rack strapped tightly. This grill can easily serve 1-4 persons. For use at a tailgating event with more than 4 people are involved, will need to wait for open space for grilling area. However, for a small family this grill is absolutely perfect. With the grills compact design and 3 short legs it works well as a table top convenience. I LOVE THIS GRILL. AWESOME!
After grilling with my Weber family of gas grills i decided to get a small charcoal and why wouldn't it be a Weber. My son and i enjoyed a couple hamburgers the other night and we weren't disappointed and they tasted just like i remember.
It would be nice if the side vents actually worked like the bottom vents on a regular Kettle. The fire did not seem to have enough air flow. Also the lid holder seemed a little awkward to use but maybe I will get used to it.
Get the original Smokey joe with the bottom vents or the jumbo joe instead. The “premium” has side vents that don't allow the coals to get enough air to stay hot with the lid on. Weber should change the name of this product because premium in the name indicates higher quality or performance. Not in my experience.
