No More Re-threading My Weedeater

anonymous June 1, 2026

I was tired of having to reload my string spool and half the time it didn't release more material like it was supposed to when I bumped on the ground. I read different reviews on the Weed Warrior and some indicated it was hard to install. I have Bolens B110 with a curved shaft and it was simple. I removed the old securing knob and the spool. Weed Warrior provided 4 or 5 different bolts to screw the new head on the shaft. I installed the adapter cone, a metal washer and hand screwed the Weed Warrior head on hand tight...done. I tried it out and it worked well. The blades are actually designed for heavier plants, etc. and will take a little practice so I don't destroy something I don't want to. Removal of the worn blades is easy, push a tab, pull the old one out, insert a new blade, and you're good to go. Seems like a good product and was reasonably priced. Will be a welcome change from stopping 2 or 3 times to re- thread the old string spool every time I did the lawn.

I've used ‘other' similar products by a ‘competitor' of WALMART. Usually, difficult to fit, doesn't last as long as the product WALMART has supplied me. In this particular case, again, the ‘competition' doesn't carry the name brand I've purchased numerous times from them. WALMART does. A no brainer

Only Buy This If You're Mechanically Inclined

James August 20, 2017

First off, save yourself the time of returning this thing if you're expecting to just 'pop' it on your trimmer and go. Also save yourself the grief if you're expecting it to come with detailed instructions for your specific trimmer. Basically if you are buying this because you can't figure out how to fix your bump head, don't buy this, because you aren't going to be able to figure this out. The instructions that come with this thing are somewhat confusing, but the company includes a ton of hardware of various sizes, so you can definitely install it on any gas trimmer made within the past 25 years if you know what you're doing. I bought the Weed Warrior last fall with a Murray trimmer that was on clearance (the same kind a lot of these reviews say it won't work on). I completely removed the bump head, slid on a washer, put the weed warrior on, and used one of the included bolts (forget which size) and within five minutes was done. 80+ hours of use later, the unit is still on the trimmer. This thing cuts through high weeds, small brush, and does it quickly and is so much more convenient then using string. I don't understand why people complain that the blades break when the hit something hard? If they didn't break, your trimmer would end up breaking. The blades come in 12 packs (I think) for a few dollars. I personally change the blades once a week. I don't have a problem with this. You have to buy replacement string, so what's the problem with buying replacement blades? In conclusion, this is a really great product for some people.

This is a tougher head that allows me to go further than the string trimmers I was using.

Used on Electric trimmer. Blades seem fragile.

Rodger June 20, 2020

It took about an hour to install this on my electric Worx string trimmer as I needed to make an adapter. Initially it worked Great but after a few minutes of use, all of the blades broke. Perhaps the blades are old and brittle or maybe just cheap. I used 3 sets of blades in one day trying to figure out what I can and can't cut which was not very much. I will give it one more try with better made blades and see how that works. If those break too easily as well, then back to string it will be for me.

Stay with string!

Robb August 31, 2016

I watched video of this product before buying it, but it does not work like the video showed. The first problem I had was there was no way to correctly mount it to my Troy Built machine, even though it said it was compatible. I did finally get it mounted and tried it on an overgrown raised bed about 20 feet long by 4 feet wide. By the time I finished cutting this area the plastic blades were shot. I replaced them and cut some weeds on the side of a road ditch about 50 yards long and the blades were broken and needed to be replaced again. I took the unit off and threw it in the trash. Don't by a Weed Warrior unless you just want to waste some money.
