Just received today. Started right up and is very, very quiet. Plenty of juice for several lights, my TV and tankless (natural gas) water heater. Needed an inverter generator for the clean power. Unit is very light. Was able to pick it up with one hand.
I bought this generator for only 1 purpose. I wanted something to recharge the batteries on our RV. This generator is extremely quiet and can run a battery charger without raising the engine rpm thus keeping the noise level at the lowest setting. It's dry weight of 31 lbs. and low purchase price makes it the best choice for camping or tailgating!
Incredibly well made. Started on first pull. Runs my refrigerator, TV, iMac and tower fan during a power outage. I added a digital hour meter (very easy) so I know when 25 hours do I can change oil. Use synthetic oil. Superb design
Worked perfect for tailgate - ran tv all day on one tank of gas
This is a good little generator. It is rather quiet, and seems to be generally well made. Careful about losing the screws when you open it up though. They are not captive screws unfortunately. You'll want to replace the spark plug with a quality Champion or NGK. The one it comes with is not a quality piece. Make sure you do a methodical break in. I used SAE 30 conventional oil. Don't use synthetic oil to do your break in. I changed the oil after 30 minutes with no load. As usual with all Chinese made engines, there are a billion little metal shavings in the oil. I then ran it for an hour at 1/4 load and changed the oil again. Half load for 3 hours and changed it again. There were still a lot of metal bits in the oil, but I'll keep doing this until I can shine a light into the oil and it doesn't look like the Milky Way. This is not really a problem to worry about. Like I said, you find this with ALL Chinese made engines. Once you can't see any bits, you can either keep using conventional oil or switch to synthetic. There are lots of videos on this break in process on youtube. This will make your Chinese made engine last as long as a Japanese made engine. At least this has worked for me with other generators. Make sure you change the oil every 100 hours and if you can, use non-ethanol fuel. Hopefully one day, the politicians will get the darn corn our of our gasoline. This Wen is light weight and pretty darn quiet. Just don't expect it to do more than it's rated for. So far, so good.
I tested it and it works. Hope it last.
Very disappointing the unit's gas tank is only 0.69 gallons, only slightly more than a half gallon. Fairly quite. Don't know what I'm going to do about the low fuel capacity. I need it to run for six straight hours. Other than that...it's nice.
Absolute utter junk. Died in less than a month of use. Buyer beware!!!
This generator was the perfect fit to carry in the RV to keep the batteries topped off. But it only worked for the first tank. Would not restart after I refilled the tank. Now it is dead. I'll find out if the warranty is any good.
Bought it because of brand name, assumed would be good. When first ran it, would not hold steady RPM. did not matter if no load or if in Eco mode. Contacted WEN, they asked me to take apart carburetor and look at port. it was clear. Then then sent me an entire new carburetor assembly which I installed. Unit seemed to work. Ran it for 15 minutes every few months with minimal load, just to exercise the unit. two years later, power goes out so I need to use it for real. Same issue. will not hold steady RPM, not even close. engine surges every 2 seconds. and its loud, nowhere near a Honda which our marching band uses all the time. I contacted WEN again that same problem of surging existed. They send I need to ship it to them to repair??? That would cost me $100. The thing has only really been used once and never worked properly but they want me to pay to have it fixed. BTW - I am an engineer and I design major appliances so I am not clueless on how things work or how to fix things. This thing has a design flaw, Hysteresis problem with speed/load control. DO NOT BUY!!! Get a Honda, you won't regret it.
