Used three times so far and worth every penny. Much easier than dealing with gas chainsaws for small clean ups. Battery lasts a good hour or so ranging from small to large pieces cut. Not as lightweight as i thought but not overly heavy (if that makes sense).
I've used this for 2 days straight. The battery lasts a long time and takes only about an hour to charge. It lasted me all day doing a mixed work of cutting trees and taking them to my burn pile so it wasn't constantly being run. It really Cuts good it's lightweight it's maneuverable it's a wonderful chainsaw. It has a lot of power. And will cut hardwood softwood whatever.
Best chainsaw I have ever owned. Have had gas and electric but this is far better. I was not sure about a battery chainsaw but this works great. It is easy to use. The battery lasts a long time and recharges quickly. It is not too heavy. I have cut down trees and limbed trees and cut lots of firewood.
I own 15 gas chain saws. I spend as much time trying to start them and make repairs as I do cutting. I thought battery chainsaws were toys. I have a different viewpoint now that I own one. They start every time. No more yanking repeatedly on the starter cord. No clogged carburetors, leaking fuel lines, spark plug changes, dead coils, and oil leaks. The weight is comparable to a gas saw. The cutting power is excellent. A charge may last as long as a tank of gas so you can't refill it several times a day in the field. And not good in rainy weather. I will be selling some of my gas saws and buying more electrics.
I've only had the saw a week but so far it works great. As with all new saws you have the tighten the chain frequently but that takes about 10 seconds and no tools are necessary. The battery life is adequate before recharging. It cuts as well as a gas saw so no issues there. The only concern I had with buying a battery operated saw was the cost and availability of replacing the battery down the road, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Cut brush back 180' down property line and cut 12" diameter and a 6" diameter tree down and cut it all up and still have half battery power cuts just as good as gas powered saw awesome for home owner around the house never would have thought electric cordless chain saw would be that awesome guess technology is getting better
i have two other battery operated chainsaws. They were a little more expensive than this one. i have had nothing but problems with them. They leak oil everywhere and they seem to overheat and stop cutting. They run at a higher RPM but they are off a lot. This saw is much slower but it is so reliable. It uses the battery very slowly as well. I tend to think of it as the bulldog. It does not wow one with its speed but it always gets the job done. I bring my other saws out to get me out of a pinch if I get into one but i prefer this saw significantly ahead of the other ones.
Incredible saw! I love it. It works perfectly, and FAR beyond my expectations! It out-performs any of the gasoline saws I have ever used/owned, over the years.... (I have used chainsaws for over 45 yrs., including a stint with the U.S. Forest Service); and have used MANY different brands, starting with Lombard
First impressions very nice and powerful. I charged battery per instructions. I went out and cut some brush small limbs and trees up to 8 inches. It powered through effortless. After 2 hours of innermediate use I still had 3 out of 4 power lights on my battery. My tip is to keep an eye on chain adjustment during break in. The chain stretched and came off once. After that I kept a close eye on it. Every so often check to make sure there is no more than 1/8 inch play between the bottom of the bar. Pause ,loosen large plastic nut 1/4 to 1/2 turn, turn chain tightening wheel a little and check chain slack at bottom of bar. Then tighten large plastic nut on chain cover tightly. Never had a problem after that. Im very pleased with the weight , power , and performance. I dont know that it would keep up to supply firewood for heating a home. But if you had a spare battery to always have on charging while in use... maybe ? But I wouldnt hesitate to fall a tree of substantial size with it. Just make sure you have bar and chain oil on hand and keep it full. The heaviest thing on the saw is the battery. The thing that had me sold was it came with the battery and charger. And that the battery was a 4ah. And of course the price was fantastic. A lot of the cordless saws dont come with a battery or charger. And a lot of them that have a battery included are only 2ah. The average handy homeowner would be pleased with this purchase. Good luck and be safe
I was pleasantly surprised with how well this WEN chainsaw cuts and how long the battery lasts. I have two gas chainsaws and a small corded electric, and this one is clearly my favorite. I have not timed it, but I would estimate that the 4amp battery will last about 30 minutes of continuous cutting. I did cut through a 12" pine (with a sharp chain) in 25 seconds. Therefore, if my estimate is correct, the 4amp battery and a sharp chain should make it through about 60 of these cuts. Other advantages over gas is that this saw is not as loud and is lighter than my gas saws (much lighter than my larger STIHL) and I really like the ability to stop it and put it down to clear the area without having to restart it (just pull the trigger). Since I also have their lawnmower and blower, I have two 4amp and two 2amp batteries. The 2amp batteries are good for smaller jobs since they are lighter, and especially with the 2amp battery, this saw is somewhat lighter than my smaller gas and much lighter than my bigger Stihl. One 4amp battery will probably give you of cutting time (i.e., the saw will outlast me on a single outing). And I really like the ability to stop the saw to clear the area without having to restart the saw (just pull the trigger).
