Although I haven't worn them yet, I tried them on before my trip and wore them around the house to make sure they were comfortable for walking, standing, sitting, going up stairs, etc, and they were great. I tested out the various convertible lengths with the shrink loop at the ankle, by folding up the bottom and using the straps to make them capri length, and unzipping the legs to make them shorts. Each was easy to accomplish and they were still comfortable. I even folded up the removable pant legs and tucked them into the side pocket to see how compact they would be to do on the fly and they didn't even overfill the pocket. I don't carry a bag and rely on pockets to carry whatever I need and the 5 pockets were deep and accommodating and each had velcro or zipper to keep items secure and safer from pickpockets. I'm 5'9" with thick hips and thighs and I found the pants length to be plenty long enough and have enough space for my thick regions without being baggy or sloppy looking and without feeling snug when sitting down. The material stretches and moves well with sitting, bending, etc and feels durable but not flimsy. Directions say machine wash (but don't say machine dry), but they seem as if they will air dry quickly after washing. I'm looking forward to wearing these on a trip to Italy in July when the weather will be hot enough for shorts, but I'll need something to cover my knees before entering churches. With these, I'll just zip on the pants legs and walk right in. Even with the pants legs on, they're lightweight enough to keep from getting too warm. I also feel safer with the deep, zippered pockets to help dissuade pickpockets. I like to pack light and these won't take up much space in my carry-on. I look forward to wearing these on this trip, and for future hiking trips, and would definitely buy them again!
These fit great! It's very hard for me to find x-small women's anything. These have elastic in the waist, which makes them actually fit me. Even the smallest hiking pants from other places require me to wear a belt. Not these! And, usually, pants are way too long. These are only about an inch too long, and at that, they have cinch capability, which means I can make them shorter, and they'll wrap around my hiking boots, so I don't get debris in them. They have roll-up capability, too, where you can button the bottoms up. They have nice zipper pockets and one velcro pocket where my iPhone 16 fits perfectly. I'm buying more immediately. Oh, I should add that I'm 5'3" and weigh 105 lbs.
I am 5'3” and weigh 130lbs. I ordered a medium and it fits amazing in the waist, hips and thighs. The length is long on me but the elastic pulls at the hem adjust so the hem does not drag. This is a great find for the price. The fabric is lightweight for warm weather hiking. I'll buy another pair.
I am going on an African safari and have to pack light. I thought convertible pants were the way to go! they fit well, and seem to be made well too. I got the XL. I am 5'3" and about 185 lbs. I love all of the pockets and the zippers are smooth. I like that the leg part that comes off are labeled L or R so you don't get them mixed up when trying to reconnect them. I would definitely recommend these pants!
I purchased these pants for a trip I was going on and I found these pants to be nice and light, very comfortable, and fit just right. I would highly recommend these pants.
I was very hesitant to buy these but I decided to try them. They are so comfortable and a perfect fit. I will be ordering more..
My husband has had a pair of zip off hiking pants for years. I keep looking for some, but they are so expensive at many outdoor stores. I decided to try these from Walmart and am so happy. Quality seems the same as my husband's more expensive ones and they fit great. I have not put them to the test yet as it is still winter here so I can not speak to whether they will hold up.
I have ordered several pairs of these hiking pants in XL. I have kept 2 of the pairs and worn them many times. The main complaint I have is that the waist size varies widely - sometimes by an inch - on the same size. These XXL's have a good waist size but the rest of the pant is pretty large. If you order them, maybe get 2 different sizes. They are a bit long but I removed the drawstring and hemmed them. I like the style %26 material.
Based on the other reviews, I was really looking forward to getting these pants for an upcoming safari. However, they run very small, at least for my body type. The material seemed durable and I think they would've been perfect, but unfortunately, were way too small.
The fabric and construction seem to be very high quality, if almost a little too heavy and drapey. Sizing is slightly inconsistent among pairs in different colors. Overall, I'm pleased and look forward to putting them to a good test.
