Westcott Full Size Auto Retractable Ceramic Utility Box Cutter, Plastic, Green, 1-Count

I bought this box cutter because it looked cool. When I got it I was confused, the blade looked like a piece of plastic. But I tried it and found it worked almost as well as a new steel bladed box cutter. It was then I learned this was a ceramic blade. I don't know the ins and outs concerning ceramic vs. metal blades, I just know this blade also works. I haven't worn a blade out yet so I can't say if it lasts as long as metal blades. And I can't say how much of a hassle replacing blades would be vs. a metal blade (although changing a metal blade in many box cutters is a dark adventure indeed. I do know that through my aggressive issues with Fat Finger Syndrome, the ceramic blade is far less likely to bite me than the metal ones. I would buy again.

So glad I bought this cutter! Excellent value for a ceramic safety blade cutter. The blade has a blunt tip and extends to approx. 1/2 inch - both protect against slicing into a package’s contents (or your fingers). Ceramic edge is more than sharp enough to whip through reenforced packing tape. I made a knotted lanyard from surveyor’s cord so I can hang the cutter from my wrist when dealing with multiple boxes. I didn’t realize this was auto-retracting - meaning you use the thumb slide to bring up the blade which then automatically retracts when you release the slide - I love this feature!!! You can pop it in pocket without worrying. A note: this does not have a feature to lock the blade in the up position.

I got these little box cutters on sale, so a great value for me. I put one upstairs, downstairs, and in the garage. I use them for cutting up boxes for recycling and they do a very nice job. Sharp enough for me. And because I am not always super coordinated or even fairly coordinated, the fact that it retracts as soon as your hand breaks contact with the push button is a huge plus for me. I would not use another type of box cutter now.

I use this knife at work to cut open bags and a lot of them! Sometimes 200 a day and it's IV bags so it gets wet repeatedly and it still performs really well! This is a really good knife! It doesn't rust and never lets me down on sharpness!! Definitely recommend!!

This box cutter is much easier %26 safer to use than standard metal box cutter with sharp metal blade. It retracts when pressure is off handle slide, so you don’t have to worry about getting accidentally cut if you drop it or pick it up wrong while metal blade is extended. Works great for opening sealed cardboard shipping boxes!

This is so easy to use! Very light weight for anyone with arthritis of the hands. It has a ceramic blade instead of traditional sharp metal blade. This blade is not sharp however it slices right though boxes with ease. The blade does not stay in place one you retract it for safety. You have to hold index finger on button while cutting. Highly recommend!

My only disappointment with this is that the blade doesn't lock in place (though that could be a really good safety feature if you drop it unexpectedly, since the blade retracts automatically and you won't chop off your toe or something). It works great, though! It's sharp enough for me to break down heavy cardboard boxes quickly. I would purchase this again if I happen to lose this one. It's also lightweight, fits easily into my pocket, and doesn't cost too much!

I ordered this green blade because the color is perfect to stand out! That's where the accolades end. The design is standard, but the safety measure in place is ridiculous. The box cutter remains retracted. I extend the blade and it won't stay out. It immediately retracts. Talk about keeping customers safe from the sharpness of the blade. Woo-hoo!! Yes, Walmart permitted the return. Such a waste of time. Not recommended at all!

It is very cheap. The blade didn't really work very well. The blade came out and I couldn't get it back in. I will never buy this again. I will spend my money to buy more quality product.

this is a sad excuse for a box cutter. it doesn’t cut anything other than tape. i tried using it to cut through a box but it wouldn’t even go through and the box cutter would break constantly, and i would have to keep repairing it. another thing is the blade doesn’t stay up unless you are constantly pushing it up and it HURTS your fingers. overall not worth the money at ALL, please save your money and do NOT buy this, thank you. (i spent 30 dollars for it to not even work).
