Westcott Full Size Auto Retractable Ceramic Utility Box Cutter, Plastic, Green, 1-Count

So glad I bought this cutter! Excellent value for a ceramic safety blade cutter. The blade has a blunt tip and extends to approx. 1/2 inch - both protect against slicing into a package’s contents (or your fingers). Ceramic edge is more than sharp enough to whip through reenforced packing tape. I made a knotted lanyard from surveyor’s cord so I can hang the cutter from my wrist when dealing with multiple boxes. I didn’t realize this was auto-retracting - meaning you use the thumb slide to bring up the blade which then automatically retracts when you release the slide - I love this feature!!! You can pop it in pocket without worrying. A note: this does not have a feature to lock the blade in the up position.

Does the job to open boxes delivered to my door step. Since the blade is not metal, this will not easily harm you. You have to keep a steady push to expose the blade, I wish there was a mechanism to just keep the blade out. The alternative is to pop the top off, but I find that causes the blade to become wiggly.

Super alternative to box cutters with sharp blades. Safe to use around kids and dogs. Not as sharp as blades. BUT, so many headaches saved from worrying about missing box cutters!! Can't turn your back for one second on kids and dogs! You will toss out your old box cutters.

A package arrives and you have to use a box cutter or lacking that, a pair of scissors or knife. That's an accident waiting to happen. This has a retractable plastic little blade that your thumb moves out that marks a shallow, but effective cut. It's small, fits my hand perfectly, and I'm not chancing an emergency room visit when I use it.

This has become my go to box cutter that I use almost daily in my kitchen and household. It's inherently safe, so you don't accidentally cut yourself, and it does the job it's designed to do very well. Cuts easily through tape and cardboard, and it never becomes dull. The green color makes it easy to find. It's lightweight and easy to use. It's hard to find anything bad I would say about it. I like it so much that I'm writing this review on my own accord, just to spread the joy of using this Westcott box cutter.

I use this knife at work to cut open bags and a lot of them! Sometimes 200 a day and it's IV bags so it gets wet repeatedly and it still performs really well! This is a really good knife! It doesn't rust and never lets me down on sharpness!! Definitely recommend!!

I really like this box cutter design. The button must be held down for the blade to work. That's an excellent safety feature. The box cutter is easy to use and works well, easily cutting through cardboard. I highly recommend!

Works Great for opening taped box Packages also cat food bags etc. Very Happy having bought it and like I say I recommend it for opening taped boxes etc.

First thing I tried to cut and it broke

this item is sharp enough but the way it's designed is not comfortable %26 easy to push on the blade (tgere is no locking blade) you have to push on the button to keep the blade engaged %26 it would be much better if the button would be on the side. Not happy with it
