This was a really good price and without spending a fortune for a SSD, this is about as fast as I can get. I replaced several smaller USB drives for the durability and speed of this unit. To this point I have the drive about 50% full, photos and videos, works really well for my storage and editing flow.
Needed an external hard drive for my son's PS5. This drive is compatible, quiet and provides an adequate additional storage for digital games. Great affordable option!
So far so good. Obviously, it is slower than a digital drive, but it does the job. It does make a little noise, but not too loud. Reasonable price for a lot of storage.
I was not informed by sales literature or WD website that this drive (part of the new series of drives) is not compatible with WD Smartware Backup software until I looked very deep into their website.. The replacement software (My Backup) will not install on any of my 5 computer systems. It sucks.
As usual with WD drives, the hardware is solid. I just hate the archaic lock software on PC. You have no easy way to toggle different computers to auto unlock without password. It's been YEARS and still doesn't work right. You have to remove the password and can only autounlock 1 computer, usually. It should be a simple toggle after typing in the password, and then possible ask for the password again or some second measure per computer. The software needs to be updated. I NEVER buy a WD drive without hardware encryption, but the software behind it lacks, always. WD, HIRE some good people to refresh this and make more options and make it user friendly.
I think it's tough shipping something like this because they do not treat the packages with care. It allowed me to import a couple files and immediately started malfunctioning. I'd be wary buying this.
It didn't work. I noted this on the return request. The drive was recognized and kept saying there was a fatal error. I tried on a second PC and got the same result. I purchased from another supplier and it worked just fine with no issues. I'm still waiting for my refund
Item came defective, so it was sent back. Replacement was never sent (marked as "delayed" for a week with no explanation). Canceled the order. Spent extra money reordering the item because the price jumped up. THAT order is now also delayed. I'm pretty sure this seller is scamming people (and Walmart doesn't seem to care or even willing to contact them), so I would highly recommend you do not purchase anything from this seller.
The item was delivered DOA. It was supposed to be a new, sealed item, but it was san open box and damaged, All power and input ports were pushed into the case so fat that the cords could not be corrected. I attempted to repurchase the item and "Walmart Security System" blocked my purchase for going over their "purchase limits"
I bought this @ Walmart, assuming it was new and ready to go. It was not only a used item, it was broken and out of warranty. Wasted my time and now I have to return this.
