This drive is not everything I would like, I would love expansion ports on the front like Seagate offers, but WD is the reliability king. And if I am going to commit 14 tb of my data to a drive, reliability is the most important datapoint. These drives are usually at a substantial premium to Seagate's but the 14 tb was on sale for Christmas at a great price. I'm seeing 200Mb/s sustained which is twice the speed of the Seagate I have to compare it with. One thing missing is error checking software. I downloaded the western digital software but it specifically omits this drive line so my 4tb portable shows up, my 2TB m2280 internal shows up, but not this drive. Testing it with other drive software takes 28+ hours continuous which I can't devote to that.

Good Value. Liitle slow in getting my orignal 4TB (many small files) onto it. I was tempted to open it and to connect the hardrive direclty to my PC SATA to speed that process up. Once setup up it works as my backup storage. I think it may have an eco mode so the disc stops spining if not acceseed, so on first use after a while there can be a delay.

Once I got the drive partitioned, and split into volumes for use with MacOS, the drive runs smoothly. I did have some issues with the Mac Initially. The Drive wouldn't mount. After doing some research I found out that I needed to try a different USB port. Upon doing that - I was able to partition the drive.

Good capacity, but slow transfer. Don't know why there aren't more high cap drives with faster connections. Also, kinda noisy. Lastly, I didn't realize the Elements series can't be configured with one of the WD apps to sleep sooner, so mine is fidgeting all the time, adding to the noise issue.

Overall I'm happy with multiple WD I've been using the only problem is they're very loud, and they are always working even if I'm not using them, they sometimes vibrate my desk lol

Loud noise with clunking at random intervals, surprisingly it seems to work (for now). KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED, wish me good luck This is the most worrisome wd hard drive I've ever purchased. Can't wait till large solid ssd drop to an affordable price point.(like they say don't make them quality like they used to).

step 1: purchase WD Elements hard drive step 2: begin backup all my life's sensitive information to the WD Elements drive step 3: a day later, information is successfully copied to WD Elements drive step 4: one day after that, WD Elements drive fails step 5: after failed recovery attempts, open up WD Elements drive that probably still has sensitive information on it, destroy internal parts, dispose of parts step 6: :(

Had this drive for a whopping three weeks, and was transferring files to it from another WD dive that had failed, and then this one failed. Literally died mid-transfer and wouldn't remount. Now I have to wait for WD to replace this one, so that I can try the transfer again, so that I can then send off my other WD drive for replacement. Unbelievable.
