Better then I imagined

oldster1940 February 14, 2014

I often have friends and relatives over for large Hamburgers. This machine makes large burgers and has an adjustment for thicker if you want.It certainly fills the bill.Easy to clean.

A little pricey but certainly meets expectations

This is an extremely durable double patty maker suitable for ground beef or any meat product. Easy to use and if you use a plastic baggie, clean up is a snap. I actually got the baggie trick from another review and highly recommend using one to make burgers. Just put the meat in the baggie, center the meat in the press and press down. Makes a perfect burger every time. You can vary the thickness from super thin (1/4") to super thick (3/4"). I recommend the thicker burger, they tend to cook better. My wife chided me when I brought this home but she has now seen the light. I can make burgers in seconds and they stay flat and hold their shape during cooking. Much better than the plump "meatballs" we use to get from hand forming hamburger patties. I highly recommend this products to all, you won't be disappointed.

Makes perfect patties easily

I don't know how I ever got by without a burger press. This press works great. I cut my own squares of wax paper, mix my ingredients, make a number of evenly sized balls and make a bunch of patties at a time. If I could change anything about it, it would be to make a way to lock the thickness adjuster where I want it. As you use the press, the adjuster moves causing you to need to re-adjust.

Built well and works fine.

Unless you expect to have two people making burgers just go with the single press. Using sheets of wax paper makes the process go much faster and creates separation if you are freezing the patties. Also minimizes cleanup. This is a much better item than the plastic presses and should last a lifetime. Will be making 2 dozen patties tonite for the PSU tailgate Saturday...Go Lions!

hamburger press

The hamburger press is nice, but you need the wax paper squares to go with it, because the hamburger sticks even when you spray the hamburger press with Pam.

Patties Made Quickly

DataDitto August 18, 2012

Pro: Does it well. Does it quickly. Con: Instructions say don't put it in the dishwasher Like others, I've put wax paper on the press and on top of the hamburger or put the hamburger inside a sandwich bag or just a clean plastic shopping bag to minimize clean-up, so the dishwasher problem is mostly solved. I think a single patty press would be 96% as good as this double press. I haven't yet, but I might cut it in two and take one half to the cabin on the lake. I weigh the hamburger meat before putting it in the press so all the patties cook uniformly. It saves me quite a lot of money compared to buying pre-formed patties. I'll BBQ 5 pounds of patties at once, cooking only until they are rare, freeze them on cookie sheets over-nite, then bag them in a zip lock until I want another hamburger. The microwave finishes the cooking when I re-heat. I've only tried 7oz patties, so I don't know how well it does on thin ones. At 7oz, they are pretty thick. A press that's an inch bigger in diameter might have been better.

Patties made easy.

Worst chore in the world (almost) patting out patties so you can freeze the beef. FYI..Trying to pat out burgers from meat that has already been frozen just don't work. From the market to the counter to the freezer, all just that easy. I am able to get more burgers from a pagage, evenly formed, they all cook up evenly, and you're done in no time. I bought mine because I am planning a big party with about 50 people, so I was really hoping this would work. Cut the job in half, less mess and the beef went alot further than usual. I recommend this for everyone. Easy clean up too, but you have to use wax paper sheets on top and bottom. Enjoy.

This press will quickly make perfect patties for the freezer or party. It will make 4.5" patties of any thickness you want to cook. I first weighed and balled the meat for 5oz patties & cut 5" squares of wax paper for dividers (use one top and bottom while pressing). The juice did press through the wax paper, so I might try parchment paper next time or maybe not. My first patties were thick on one side, thin on the other, this was because I didn't have the thickness stop adjuster set correctly, no big deal. minus 1 star because the non-stick coating was coming off in one of the upper bodies. I kept the unit because it didn't seem to affect the performance. minus 1 star because it is a little clumsy to clean, it does not come completely apart. the top and bottom bodies stay together. Overall I'm happy with the unit, and would recommend it mentioning my 2 issues.
