To say we were shocked would be an understatement. We did not expect to get this type of quality from Walmart. We really like it a lot! They look like something we would get from Ashley Furniture but at a Walmart price! Not sure if it's stressed wood or whatever but it looks very good!
I don't get the bad reviews on these barstools. they went together ok for me, it was not hard and I used the allan wrench that was supplied. they're very snug and sturdy. these stools are supposed to look slightly distressed and the 'red' alot of people describe is on the edge of the saddle and gives the appearance of a cherry or mahogany as if the edge is slightly worn and they've done it just enough. they look great and are well worth the money. they don't look wal-mart lol and I'll probably buy 2 more.
I am really happy with the color, design and durability of these stools. They were easy to put together and very sturdy. I had stools with metal legs and even though I had them covered they damaged the hard wood floors. These stools are so sturdy for the price and I put a simple felt piece on the bottom and they are fine. This experience has encouraged me to do more shopping online.
There stools are very well made, however the holes at the ends of the foot rests are not large enough for the screws. You will need to drill larger holes in order to get the screws to fit. This was not a problem but did slow the assembly process down a bit. These stools are just what we were looking for.
I already own the 27 inch Tibetan Barstools from Pottery Barn that cost me over $100 per stool. I didn't want to spend that much money on more stools. I found the 29 inch Ashby Bar Stools from Walmart for only $69 for two. The price is great! When the stools came, the oak color was beautiful. I am super happy that I bought these even though I was hesitant that I wasn't ordering from Pottery Barn. I also was not too happy to have to put them together, but my husband and my 9 year old son had them together in 20 minutes. They also signed their names with the date under the stool that they each built. So it really was a win win for us, and what a great sentimental value they have now! They are very similar to the PB ones. The only reason why I am giving this product 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because Walmart had to delay our pick up day.
Stools seem sturdy and have been fine so far. My complaint is with the finish. They look fine but I would not consider this an Oak finish... Maybe Maple.
When I saw these stools in the store I was ecstatic. They looked exactly like Pottery Barn's, for a MUCH better price. I expected the 'assembly required' to be easy, but was shocked when only an Allen wrench was included in the box. Needless to say it was not as easy as anticipated. The holes didn't line up well, and the finished product wobbled because of it. Sadly, they're going back.
The tops of these bar stools have odd black markings, suggestive of where the legs attach but not actually related to how the stool parts fit together. Just four sort of burn-in marks in the corners. Bought these to try to match some Walmart stools we bought years ago; these were close, but the older version was much better. A couple pieces were missing in assembly (screws, easily replaced, but still annoying) and one part was broken and needed wood glue to fix it. Not terribly impressed with the quality.
For the price, I thought these would be more sturdy. After hiring a handyman to assemble them with a drill bit (instead of the tool supplied), they seemed a bit more sturdy but I will probably only put a kid weight on them. Solid wood but I'm not satisfied compared to other stools like this that sell for $15 each.
When I received them I had to glue the piece under the seat because it was completely broken off! After that put them together was a joke! The Allen wrench was so hard to use to put the screws in! It took 4 hours to get them together from having to glue the piece back on to putting in the screws. I will never recommend theses to anybody!
