Weston Smoke Infuser, Handheld Smoker and Infuser, 41-0801-W

I do miss eating smoked meat. I ended up with Lyme disease with the long start tick bite years ago and ended up with the alpha Gail allergy so therefore I am not able to eat meat and dairy. It will be four years September Vegan. When my husband makes smoked ribs and smoked turkey during the holidays for everyone else I sure do miss that flavor. After trying on my beyond me hamburgers the other day I was amazed at the flavor! I look forward to using it on my chicken vegan chicken and all my other vegan products . I hope you enjoy as I do. Easy to use I think it would be a great gift for people to as well.

The Weston infuser is an excellent product. I love how easy it is to use straight out of the box. Connect all the pieces following the instructions manual and put the screens in and afterwards put the included wood chips. Light up the wood chips and the smoke is released once you turn it on. I smoked my fresh Atlantic salmon prior to baking it and it came out delicious. Nice even smoky flavor. I will definitely be trying other wood chips. Easy to use and a great quality product. Cleaning is always very easy as most components are washable.

Takes 4 AAA batteries, first off, nowhere could we find this on box. Came with apple wood chips, my house smells smoky, I like it. We love smoked gouda cheese so that was my first attempt. Did in a sandwich bag and it filled up with smoke quick. We tied it off to let sit in smoke a few hours after turning off and it was yummy. Plan to do some porkchops tonight. Not disappointed at all for a quick smoky flavor of anything. Some rainy nights or in Winter when grill or outdoor smoker is not an option, try this. You will not be disappointed.

I received this smoker to try and I love it! It's so simple to use, all you do is put a pinch of the wood chips (included) in the chamber, light it and when the chips burn out It's done! I've only tried it with pork chops so far but I can't wait to try other meats. A cloche is not included so we just used a zip lock bag. You can make your own reusable cloche out if a Tupperware bowl that's my next project. Smoking the meat only takes about a minute or a little longer if you want more of a smoky flavor. You can also use it for drinks as well but I'm not a big drinker so I'll stick to meat.

I use this sometimes for chicken or other meats. My spouse likes to use it when making drinks and wants to attempt smoking cheese. We shall see! I want to find some non traditional ways to use it. My next plan is making salsa, maybe smoking the onions & garlic will work. I've never used a smoke infuser before but I think it's interesting.

First, I took off a star because it takes 4 AA batteries and those were not included. It comes with a huge bag of apple wood smoke chips, and considering you only use a tiny bit to fill it, I would say this would last the whole year depending on how many times you use it. It does come with extra screens which is awesome. It really wasn't that hard to clean, but more of a time consuming issue. I did let everything air dry over night before putting it away in the box. The only other thing that I didn't like was that it didn't have the cover that you have to put over the meat. I ended up using my cake dish stand over and that worked really well to keep all the smoke in. You'll definitely have to make sure you are prepared ahead of time for all these things. We smoked three different items with the Weston smoke infuser. One was a glass of whiskey, just because we wanted to try it. I could taste a hint of the smoke, it wasn't terribly strong. The next thing was a few pieces of cheese. Obviously some cheeses will be better than others. We liked how the Gouda cheese tasted with the apple chips and the cheddar. Lastly we smoked a porkbutt for about 6 hours on our grill. While it was resting, we used the Weston infuser to get the apple chip smoke to increase flavor. It worked really well, as if we had put the chips in our grill and it had smoked all day.

I would recommend this to a friend who particularly likes smoked foods, if she's willing to get different chips and needs only small-medium amounts of smoked food. The infuser worked great, although I had trouble lighting the wood chips. Tip: Keep at it; they will light. The infuser then immediately filled the cloche with smoke. It was amazingly fast. However, the chips that came with the infuser had no flavor at all. I smoked cheese. It did have a smokey taste, but not a particularly good one, since the chips had no scent/flavor at all. Users should know that you need a cloche. Since I don't have one, I made one with a upside down glass bowl with snapon top that had a small hole in it (a microwaving bowl) that was perfect for the infuser tube.

First off the smoke infuser works awesome! It really does add that tasty smoke flavor you're looking for. And it does it very quickly. We did a few blocks of cheese as well as some fish filets and they were awesome. I've smoked meat for years on a pellet smoker and what takes me all day take an hour or 2 with one of these things. The problem I have with this one and the reason for docking stars is the fact of how expensive it is and it does NOT include a cloche of any kind, as well as the wood chips it comes with don't work that well at all. It includes a bag of apple wood chips but there was a HUGE difference in the included chips and the chips I bought elsewhere, these included ones didn't give much flavor at all. So overall yes, this does work and does a very good job, it's small and compact and feels very well made, should hold up forawhile. Just know you're going to have to drop another $20+ on some kind of cloche unless you plan on fighting zip lock baggies to smoke meat and cheese as well as youre gunna need to find better chips to get the full effect and your money's worth here. This thing is definitely capable of giving you that quick easy smoke flavor but you will have to pay more money to get the best out of it!

I don't know what I was expecting but when I got this I thought I thought that there would be a noticeable difference in the taste and flavor of the meat I used. I followed the directions very carefully but honestly didn't really notice a big difference from meat that wasn't smoked. I know the directions say it can be used on other items as well like cheeses but I have not tried anything but meat.

This is pretty powerful for being so small, but it does not come with the cliche to use. It DOES say that on the box! However, I assumed I could use it with other products such as food in a bag, etc. It does not. Super simple and easy to use, but just a personal thing.. I'd rather use my actual smoker, even if it takes longer and creates more to clean it tastes so much better.
