Part of my family has to follow a "heart healthy" program so we are buying whole grains, etc. I wasn't sure that everyone would like it because it looks like it mighty sacrifice taste/texture for health but we all really like this. I already bought it again.
So glad I got a chance to review this pancake mix! I had tried something similar in a pancake restaurant and loved them, so I sought out a mix and this is the first one I've tried. I wasn't really feeling cooking the pancakes on my first attempt, but the pancakes were amazing anyway! The whole wheat and flax combo has so much more taste and satisfaction than plain pancakes with white flour. These pancakes have fiber and protein as well. I think they taste good compared to any pancakes, not just compared to other "healthy" dishes. They are good with just spray butter on them, in case you watch calories like I do. Or you can add sugar - free syrup. I'm going to add blueberries next time.
This pancake mix is such a treat I don't really want to review it. All ingredients are non-GMO, 100% whole wheat flour plus only 6 other regular ingredients I would use to make my own at home. Kids love it. Plus the price is very reasonable and much more affordable than any of the other whole grain pancake mixes I have found. Great product. Only improvement could be to make the ingredients organic too.
The flavor, consistency of flapjacks as well as the ease of use were perfect! I dropped frozen blueberries on the pancakes before flipping, after adding about 2 Tbsp. of sugar to the batter. Delicious ! I particularly like the whole grain and addition of flaxseeds in this mix. So glad I found it!
Been trying various waffle mixs %26 haven't cared for any of them, but this Montana Wheat whole wheat with flax is a winner. We were used to a multigrain wholegrain product which is now hard to locate %26 when you do find it it's ridiculously priced. So pleased we did not give up %26 found this mix. This is what we'll be using from now on. We ate the first one off the iron plain %26 we all enjoyed it immensely. Syrup really didn't improve it much which is unbelievable. We've since added some toasted pecans we chopped up %26 was delicious as pecan waffles always are %26 the added protein %26 fat makes for a nice variance. Do try this if you're reading as am sure you'll be pleased too!
I nearly always make my pancakes from scratch and have found them to be superior to any pre-made mix -- until now. This was outstanding, and did not taste "healthy" as one would expect with whole wheat and flax seed. The grandkids (seven and eight) did not bat an eye and ate an entire batch, even the fussy granddaughter. I had bought mine at a local bulk store for $5.75, Amazon had it for $9.99, and WalMart had it on sale for $2.48: I bought eight bags. ️️
Started buying this because I can not find the Aunt Jemima Whole wheat blend in a single box..cant afford to buy 12 at a time...My two year old grand daughter loves it!
I like the flavor and the fiber element. I just prefer thicker pancakes than the recipe calls for. On my second try, I altered the recipe to make them thicker but they ended up being too chewy. I will keep trying to get it right. In the meantime, I bought another package of the mix, and I plan to use it to make muffins and biscuits.
I was definitely looking for a healthier solution for pancakes for my 2 year old. I would definitely say I would not buy again. I tried all types of ways to get this to taste right or even mix right. Follow direction to the T. And it stills comes out a weird mixture..and worst pancakes. Maybe all my ways were wrong. But really wanted this to work. Really wish known brands have the whole wheat solution. Definitely not going to re purchase
Unless you add a lot of sugar, cinnamon, and other ingredients to spice up these pancakes you will be disappointed. The packages front label is misleading. Yes, it does contain flax, but the amount is so minuscule that it is laughable. That small amount won't provide any health benefits. You'd be better off buying the Wheat Montana whole wheat flour and making your own custom pancakes from scratch. I will NOT buy this again unless I am trying to make "savory" pancakes rather than the normal "sweet" ones.
