strong story
this book is for my great grandson, he is in the 3rd grade and I'm pretty sure this book will be read in school soon, I loved it, story is strong and suspenseful.

This is an engaging and heartwarming story for kids and adults. The characters and storyline provide plentiful opportunities for contemplation and discussion.

A good read
My kid has this book in her syllabus for 5th grade LA as she is learning advance English. She is enjoying the book so much that she is reading ahead of her teacher's given number of pages. Definitely good reading.

A family read!
I was first read this book as a 3rd grader. I have read it a few times since. It STILL brings me to tears. I bought a book for four of my neices families. I can't wait to start reading it to them!

A Boy And His Dogs
I remember hating this story when I read it in school, and now I've revisited it. As an adult, it's overly sentimental and almost condescendingly so. I still don't like it, but I can understand why it is a classic. (The Bible reference that spurs the boy to earn money for his dogs is bogus. It's not in the Bible.)
