Whirlpool GC1000 1/3 HP Garbage Disposal

I bought the Whirlpool GC1000 1/3 HP to replace an old, broken unit in my kitchen. Overall, I am very satisfied with this disposal, especially considering the price point. The Pros: Installation was a breeze: The mounting hardware is standard and easy to work with. If you are handy at all, you can swap this out yourself in under an hour. Compact size: It leaves plenty of room under the sink for a trash can and cleaning supplies, which is a huge plus. Runs smoothly: For basic, everyday plate scraping and soft foods, it grinds well and isn't overly loud. The Reason for 4 Stars: Light-duty power: Because it is only a 1/3 HP motor, you do have to be mindful of what you put down it. It handles standard scraps perfectly fine, but you'll want to avoid tough, fibrous vegetables (like celery or onion skins) and hard items like bones or fruit pits. If you overload it, it can bog down a bit faster than a 1/2 HP or 3/4 HP model would. Ultimately, this is a fantastic, budget-friendly garbage disposal for light to medium household use. As long as you treat it right and don't try to grind up anything too heavy-duty, it will get the job done!

I was able to order the exact same unit that had went bad and it was an easy swap with minimal installation thanks to the same fit

I would have preferred it to come with the power cord, removing the power cord and putting it on the new one was a pain in the neck

It was opened box with a sign that it was broken. Plus, Angi pro never came to assemble. Very bad experience, returned second time already.
