[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I live in an old updated condo building. We can only have ventless dryers. My previous small, stackable dryer always left clothes somewhat damp and I had items hanging to complete the drying process. We just renovated and I got this new Whirlpool washer and dryer. This is a full size ventless dryer. So far I have dried about 6 different loads of laundry and it dried everything beautifully. I was most excited when I dried 1 king sheet, 2 twin size fitted sheets and 4 pillow cases in one load and everything was dry. Hopefully the future loads of wash will continue to be completely dry.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great, the only thing that whirlpool needs to do is to stop the lint from getting behind these lint catcher at the bottom of the dryer, it still manages to get on the coil and I have to vacuum it out, besides that it's a great dryer.
I bought this dryer in August of 2019, and have been happy with it ever since. I bought it solely because of what it DOESN'T do to your clothes, and that's burn them with hot air until they fall apart. This dryer literally sucks the moisture wetness from your clothes, and empties the water it has taken from my clothes, down the same drain my washer empties in to. It takes a bit longer to dry my clothes, but who cares when you know it's not destroying your clothes. It has plenty of features and choices when drying your clothes, and has enough programs to get what you need, done. It's not a “smart” dryer, but I honestly don't see the need for it. The ONLY thing I wish it could do was a steam refresh cycle if you wanted to get the wrinkles out of some wrinkly clothes. But, that isn't a reason not to buy it. So, if you're looking for a dryer with lots of drying programs, one that doesn't destroy your clothes, AND BEST OF ALL, doesn't use a lot of electricity; then this is a great dryer to buy. I can't see myself owning any other kind of dryer at this point, hybrid heat pump is the way to go!! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This is the dryer in my apartment- it takes 3 hours to dry a load of clothes. I am not renewing my lease because of the appliances.
Do not by this dryer. We are on our 3rd unit under warranty. The current unit had not died yet but it takes 2.5 hours to dry and is an energy pug. We did 2 loads today. The dryer pulled 7kw which is on par with a standard resistant heat dryer. This is supposed to be energy efficient. It will slowly get worse as the lint builds up in the machine not allowing it to work efficiently. At that point i will need to disassemble to clean it out.
This is the most expensive appliance I have every bought, and I can tell it is going to fail very quickly due to the abysmal quality of the secondary filter box. Let me elaborate: The secondary filter screen and filter box have very poor-quality injection molding. The filter box and the filter that goes into it do not line up or fit together properly, so lint blows right past/around the filter. This means lint that the filter should catch is actually accumulating on the heat pump coils, which is exactly where lint should never reach. Also, the filter cartridge has little tabs that are supposed to lock together, but if you snap them together, they just pop back apart. And, despite two gaskets – one against the screen and one on the filter box – I can hear the air howling past the filter box, meaning DESPITE TWO GASKETS the filter box does not seal. Considering the cost and complexity of this appliance, and considering that this filter box and filter are the only thing protecting the machine from failure, THE FILTER BOX SHOULD BE MANUFACTURED WITH AEROSPACE PRECISION! Again, if you look at the filter cartridge inside the filter box, the filter does not line up with the box, so lint/hair/dust/etc are going around the filter and getting caught on the large-mesh grate that is supposed to keep hands and other objects from entering the heat pump area. Let me put it very simply for anyone thinking about buying this poorly-built apparatus. I have been in literally hundreds of factories around the world, and any plastics engineer would have recognized the incredibly poor quality of injection molding and that the parts DO NOT fit together before finalizing the design. This is the most expensive dryer from a so-called “premium” manufacturer, and finding this kind of poor quality is no different than buying a very high end luxury vehicle only to realize the dash board and center console do not fit. Here are some more problems with this "appliance": The machine makes a rattling noise like a fan blade is tapping something. It isn't the heat pump running, but literally a rattle. It made this noise straight out of the box. And I should also mention the feet that come with the stacking kit. The threads on the feet are much thicker than what the bottom of the machine can accept, so the metal on the bottom of the machine winds up cutting the plastic of the threads. Get ready to work up a sweat installing these feet, which are also very poorly made. Back to the abysmal lint filter: Believe me when I tell you, the lint filter is so poorly manufactured that it will 110% be the reason this machine fails. Since I already renovated my laundry room to get rid of the dryer vent, I am without actual options for a dryer. Any of the other ventless options are so small I cannot fit a blanket inside them. This one from Whirlpool is the right size, but based on the filter box, the rattling, and the junky stacking kit, the quality of this machine is so poor I wish I could leave negative 5 stars. This dryer is truly one of the most poorly executed designs I have ever seen, due entirely to the junky filter box. I honestly don't think I could have paid Whirlpool to manufacture a more poorly-executed design. Unfortunately, I also have a matching Whirlpool washer, which I purchased specifically so that these could stack. This will be the last Whirlpool anything I ever buy. Mark my words that I will not buy so much as a toaster oven from Whirlpool ever again. With this one single clothes dryer, Whirlpool has utterly destroyed their reputation in my book. Shame on you, Whirlpool.
Heat pump gave out after 18 months. Terrible dryer even when it was working takes almost 3 hours to dry a load.
Screeching and heat pump failure within 3 years- more to fix than replace. 3 hours to dry regular load
If I could give zero stars I would. I loved the dryer when I first bought it. Then after about a month the clothes did not dry during a regular cycle. Thank goodness I purchased the service contract from my local store. The store is losing money for the amount of times this dryer breaks down. The control board has been replaced early on, glad my service contract was not that expensive. Here is a list of my complaints: 1. The dryer is now eating my clothes. The in-drum lint filter does not sit flush and clothes are getting caught and ripped up. 2. The gaskets for the secondary lint filter are not tight. Lint is getting into the convection coils (heat pump) and blowing into the laundry room. Fine lint is getting everywhere. Am I breathing this fine lint in? Is this going to pose health risks in the future? 3. The dryer runs and does not stop if I have a small load. They dryer used to be able to sense that the clothes are dry and stop. This is wasting extreme amounts of electricity! 4. The heat pump seems to smell like mildew. As if water is building up and not being removed. So my clothes do not smell fresh. 5. I waited 3 months for a replacement part and had NO dryer! All clothes had to be hung up outside. Coming back from vacation took me over a week to get all the laundry done. If this machine is a lemon, Whirlpool needs to provide me with a new dryer! If this is not a lemon, DO NOT by this dryer. It will cause you nothing but trouble. By a different brand!!!!!!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this in June but due to my renovation, I wasn't able to use till last week. This dryer keep making strange sound which wasn't sure and then stopes with few error code displaying....I have mounts of dirty laundry but won't work.
