this is the only brand of portable freezer we will buy, I'm an over the road truck driver and it does everything it promises.
Purchased this transit bag as a birthday present for my son. I'm impressed with the fit and quality of material. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
We used this on a trip out west in the refrigerator mode. placed it between the front bucket seats in our van. this made it very convenient for cold drinks, snacks, and cold cuts. No ice or water messes you get from a standard cooler.
I'm a professional driver and need a dependable fridge for my truck! If this sounds like you....go buy THIS fridge/freezer! It's a winner! Easy to operate, user-friendly temp controls, and solidly built. The only two things that aren't great are: It is Very heavy and does not have a large storage capacity. Aside from this, it is THE BEST fridge I have ever owned or used!
I bought one of these units about 3-4 years ago to put in the back of my truck when we're traveling/camping/beaching/etc. When we're not traveling it doubles as my beer fridge in the garage plugged into 110v AC. I installed a dual battery setup in the truck with a deep cycle marine battery and a blue-sea Auto charging relay so I don't drain my starting battery. That setup has worked great to keep the fridge going. Nice to have cold drinks and cold food without fussing with ice and coolers. Unfortunately, last week our house was stuck by lightning and the whynter fridge was affected. It won't power on. Our insurance has replaced it. I'm glad they upgraded the handles and latch with beefier units on this new generation model compared to the one I had. I'm going to attempt to revive the old one and we'll see how that goes.
It uses alot of juice to get to temp at 12v, so remember to use 110 to bring it to temp and add your cool stuff, before you leave the house. once its at temp and loaded up, it works great. I had to drop my truck at a shop for a few days, forgot to take this out. 4 days later it was still running on a 100ah lithium battery at 36 degrees while it was in the 90's outside!! to me that defies physics, but whatever, my beer was still cold and the mayonaisse didn't spoil! 5 stars for performance and value, 4 stars cause its heavier than crap. I also used it to store 50 pounds of ground beef when i ran out of freezer space elsewhere. it ran at 0 degrees for nearly two years.

I bought this unit new in 2012 for my work truck/RV. I have used and abused it for 5 years. The unit can be voltage sensitive at times. After a number of under voltage situations the controller gave out ($50) and easy swap for the not so adventurous. But it elected to shelf the unit at the time. A year later I decided to turn it on. And like an old friend it fired right up and started working again and I have yet to replace the broken controller that was scrolling the numbers of death just a year prior. After a month of constant freezer operation it finally started to show itself again but this time with no diag codes. So a fresh controller later. And it works perfectly again. It may not be the Engel or ARB everyone lusts after. And it may suffer from voltage sensitivity. but for a weekend warrior or Savvy full time RV'er it's a decent buy no matter how you use it.
