It sounds the alarm when it gets wet and also sends an alarm to my iphone. The only thing I would change is the difficulty to open it . when you do get it open, you need to make sure you put it back on the same way you took it off. thankfully there is a very tiny line to line up to make sure its on the right side.I like that is isn't super big either

This is a basic non-latching contact switch with 4 electrodes and a local tone. The casetop scuptining is not functional. I liked that that batteries were included, but installing them was a PITA. The plastic sudger had points too thin and flexible to get the harder case halves apart using them. I had to use a 1/4" screwdriver bit. Once I got the case bottom off, I wonder why they didn't use screws instead of electrodes and a wider gasket. Autopairing didn't work the first time. Fortunately I had not remounted the case bottom because the reset switch is inside. The manual pairing did not work because I could not get the sensor to fast blink. Finallly I held the reset button down for a full minute and autopairing found the sensor but rejected my network password. I started over and the same password worked. When it came time to close the case, I had to do it by eye. The case bottom has a raised index mark, the case top has a very faint mark like a molding line. I tested it in saucer. It alerts after water level relative to 2 of its adjacent feet is above 1/16", so to use as a leak detector you need to place it where water can pool. The sound is loud locally but was hard to hear through an open joist ceiling and carpeted wooden floor with me sitting 12 feet above it. The app's tone was more apparent than the local tone. I'm going to place it near my basement floor drain to detect backups from storm water.

We have an AC unit that sometimes gets the drain pipe clogged and will overflow water behind the filter. We typically don't know it is leaking until we see water seeping from the baseboards. I came across this sensor and thought it would be perfect to alert us before the issue got bad enough to leak through again. It took four tries to get it to recognize our WiFi when setting up the device in the app. It did finally connect and I was able to set it up. One feature I didn't realize was available is alerts to phone and SMS. This is great feature for vacation homes, short term rentals, etc. You can set multiple people to receive alerts but there is a small, additional monthly fee. I did test the sensor by pouring a bit of water under it and it did activate as soon as the water touched the sensors on the bottom. I think this is just what we needed to catch our leak problems before they get out of hand.
