Whether you have limited time or have extra time and enjoy using your artistic abilities, this 10 lb. tub of Wilton Decorator White Vanilla Flavored Fondant is perfect for a novice or an expert. Being so malleable, it’s quite easy to roll out and almost effortless to use. It’s recommended that powdered sugar be used when rolling it out to help keep it from sticking, but I found that it doesn’t really need it if you don’t over work it. I imagine 3 or 4 cakes (depending on size) could be covered with this amount of fondant or countless decorations could be created. So far, the kids and I have used cookie cutter shapes to put on top of sugar cookies. The kids had a blast rolling it out and trying their attempt at designing tie dye decorations by adding food coloring. I did find that adding a little water to the bottom of the fondant helped it adhere better to the cookies. As for the taste and texture of this fondant, I find the flavor tastes more like marshmallow than true vanilla. It’s not a bad taste, just very sweet. The texture seems to be in between a smooth and a granular type feel, like sugar. Kids definitely love it! I’d like to experiment incorporating flavored extracts such as orange or peppermint into the fondant and look forward to trying it on the endless amount of treats it will compliment! Absolutely recommend purchasing this Wilton fondant!
I like this fondant especially since it comes in individual packaging so you can use a small amount and still preserve the rest, it has a good flavor vanilla so you could add another flavor to it or you can add coloring, it has a lot of different ways that you can apply it either as a smooth top on the cake or the cut outs for decoration or you can use them on top of cookies. I am very impressed with the quality of the product and I do recommend it.
Excellent product. Good quality icing and great taste. I loved how it came as bulk, and divided into 4 bags, that way The rest of the bags will stay fresh. I can keep in the kitchen pantry, but the left over from the bag I use put it in the refrigerator. It's very soft, easy to deal with. My girls used to make flowers over their cupcakes. Amazing and great fun too! Thank you so much for this product. I would recommend to family and friends. and will buy again.
I can’t wait to experiment with this fondant, there is a lot in this tub! It’s vanilla and super sweet as fondant normally is. My daughter-in-law and I are baking this weekend and we will both be using it to decorate our cake off competition this weekend. She is a professional baker so I’m pretty sure who will win this cake off competition. The fondant is made by Wilton , which assured me of the quality right off the bat! I would recommend this brand to anyone.
I use a lot of fondant in my cake decorating side-gig, and I go through this stuff by the bucket. I don’t cover cakes in fondant but instead I use it as decorations, to make sculpted toppers, and to cover cake drums. Over the years I have tried all the well-know fondant brands, but I always come back to Wilton. It is soft and flexible, it is easy to roll, and if you add some gum-tex to the fondant you can make figures and toppers that stand on their own. So, like I said, I’ve tried almost every brand of fondant on the market, and I always come back to Wilton.
I really liked the fondant made by Wilton ,the vanilla flavored fondant was very easy to use.Simply roll out the amount you need to cover your cake and then place fondant over and smooth out. I really like the look of my cake after using the fondant,it looked like a cake that you would get at a bakery. Now I am a first time user of fondant and I am not a baker by any means but my cake looks average and I had fun.I will continue using this Wilton vanilla fondant because it taste great. This tub contains four packages of fondant that equals out to 10 lbs. Overall I think this Wilton Fondant is great for first timers and professionals.
As a cake decorator, this use to be by go-to fondant! Over the last few months I have noticed that it has changed. It isn't white anymore, it's almost like a light grey. And it is now very tacky. Even putting more cornstarch to help with the tackiness doesn't work in my opinion. I'm not sure why they changed the formula when they made the new packaging, but I wish they would change it back.
I have used this product for years for my side cake business and I feel like something has changed. It does not stretch like previous boxes that I purchased and I'm not sure what it is, what has changed, but I will not be purchasing this again. I actually bought two boxes and returned one because I knew I wasn't gonna wanna use it for another cake.
I'm really disappointed with whatever changes were made to this fondant. It used to be perfect, but now the color isn't even white it's more of a dull nude. The texture has completely changed too; it breaks apart and isn't stretchy at all. The taste and smell are also off it honestly reminds me of the clay like consistency of the Hobby Lobby brand. What makes it even worse is that Walmart hasn't updated the product photo, so you think you're getting the old version, but it's not. Super frustrating.
The NEW Wilton fondant is horrendous. I have been using Wilton fondant over the “exclusive” brands for nearly 15 years and it has been amazing. They have changed the formula once since and it was for the better. I loved it!!! The new one is a waste of money, it's harder to roll out and not pliable at all the taste isn't at all to be desired. I'm really disappointed with this new change. I have 3 boxes that I can't use. Time to find a new fondant 😭😭
