These dowel rods are a sturdy plastic and are about 12 1/2” long. They will be perfect for making my kids’ birthday cakes this summer, as they can be used to stack multiple tiers and to stabilize cake sculptures. I’m very excited to use them, and my kids will love the cakes I can make with them.
My wife used these to support the tiers in my daughters birthday cake. It held well and we can definitely use them again, you just have to make sure you wash them. They aren't the most durable ones on the market, but the pricing is perfect for the amount of times you can use them.
I love Wilton products and these dowels do not disappoint. I prefer to use these over would dowels. The Wilton dowels are awesome because they are lightweight and super sturdy, you can have total confidence that your cake won't fall. They are also super easy to cut to the exactly length you need.
These are definitely cake decorator quality. I'm no professional, but I enjoy making my kids cakes. These are perfect for stacking. They are big and heavy duty but still easy to cut to size. They hold the stacked cakes in place even while traveling. These are must when stacking for sure
These cake rods saved the worry of my cakes! I enjoy baking and in no way a professional. However, I make large, tall, detailed cakes for my family. Usually they are 4-5 tiers and by the time I get icing and decorations on they are a little uneasy. I don't know why I have never bought any type of support before so I was thrilled to get to review these plastic rods. It's pretty simple. All you do if stack your cakes and when you are done, you insert these rods down into cake to keep it structurally stable. Since they are plastic, you just cut off the extra that is sticking out of the cake and that's it. I put mine back in the washer to reuse. My cakes didn't bulge and I wasn't worried about them collapsing from the weight of the tiers.
aa described. thank u
So easy to use. I installed it in a six layer cake, measured it, and then cut the rod off with a pair of scissors. So much easier than the wooden ones!
These plastic cake rods are well made, sturdy which tells me that they should hold a fairly big and possibly heavy decorated cake. These would, in my review should work well for the professional as well as the home baker.
They were hard to cut with strong kitchen scissors, but the convenience and price were good.
I'm not sure what these are for. I can only presume they could be used for decorating a cake in some form, shape or fashion due to something I read when selecting the product. My mother always decorated beautiful cakes growing up, but never used a plastic dowel for anything. I apologize for the unhelpful review, but just being honest.
