This is a generic wireless adapter to turn a required wired connection to your car into a wireless Bluetooth connection. Just plug the adapter into your car's USB port and locate it in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
My needs were few. I only need such a device to use Google Maps, which required a physical connection to use with my 2020 Kia Forte. With this device, I can now leave my phone in it's holster without having to pull it out just to use Google Maps (also eliminates frequent plugging/unplugging to the USB port which can wear it out.)
If you are looking for a brand name to research, there is none. The device uses the generic "smartBox" chipset. If you do a Google Image search, you'll find a half-dozen devices using this same chipset. I do not know if they all perform as well as this unit, but it's possible.
By default, when you first plug it in, your car should detect it as an Apple "CarPlay" device with icon on your car's screen for use with an iPhone. If you have an Android phone like me, it takes a few more steps and some know-how to link your phone (I had to run through the process twice and didn't panic when it first failed to connect.) You must switch the default to Android. And once set, it'll remember your setting even if unplugged.
Next, go into your car's Bluetooth settings so it finds your phone, give your phone permission to Pair with the device (by entering a code into your car's screen) and from then on it'll connect automatically (within 5 seconds after starting your car.)
The only negative with this system is that putting your car in "Accessories" mode (power without the engine running) confuses the device. If you're already connected, you can turn off the car and switch to Accessories just fine, but the next time I restart my car, it fails to connect. As soon as I select "Android Auto" from the car's menu, I get a Black "smartBox" screen with no interface (see screen shot.) The fix is simple, just unplug/replug the device and it'll reconnect. A minor annoyance, but an annoyance none-the-less.
Other than that, it works great and is a welcome relief from having to fuss with a cable or a bad connection.
