I'm sort of a beginner. It's not as if I have never soldered before but I'm not a pro and I would say that I'm not that good at it. Hobbyist I'd say. The flux is great. The solder and solder wick that it came with is good. The iron... The on/off mechanism sucks and the cord is too stiff and that makes the iron difficult to maneuver.
On/Off mechanism:
Ok so you plug it in and its on and heating up to the set temperature. You hold the temperature up button and the temperature climbs, you let go and the temperature is set. Then the iron climbs to that temp. Ok fine. Let say we set it at the highest temp 896F. I have told the temp down button until this display clocks temp (1 degree at a time) down to like 360F before it will shut off and I can put it down.
The cord:
It super thick and stiff. It retains that zig zag pattern from being packaged tightly. This makes the iron, is difficult to rotate and feels like your wrestling with it. Because of this, I actually blew mine up, because iron tip came in contact with the cord. I am not blaming the manufacturer or seller for this. I should have been paying better attention, but the cord was a contributing factor.
