Worx Nitro WG855 40V Power Share Brushless 14” Cordless Dethatcher (Batteries & Charger Included)

I moved from Kansas to Minnesota a year ago and bought a home with a rather neglected lawn. So I decided this spring to start with a good power raking. I purchased the Worx Nitro 40V Brushless 14" Cordless Dethatcher (Tool Only) and am so thrilled. The amount of dead grass this great machine pulled out of my lawn was amazing. My lawn can breathe again and so can I. So easy to use and makes such a difference.

After summer drought and a family of groundhogs wreaked havoc on my lawn, I used my Worx brushless dethatcher for the first time. I was impressed with the ease of use and the amount of thatch it removed. It was easy to change to the scarifier and continue working. I love not having to deal with power cords or the loud noise of gas powered yard tools. Sharing rechargeable batteries among all our Worx tools is a big plus. We have the quietist yardwork in our neighborhood. Worx is the tool company of choice for this household.

I was looking for a dethatcher that didn't break the bank yet would get the job done. Since I have other Worx tools and lawn care products I thought/hoped perhaps their dethatcher would fit the bill and do the job. Well it certainly did, in spades!

I am new to the battery powered tools world never really trusting that they had enough power to do the job. However, after buying my third Worx tool, I am now a believer. Thie dethatcher is powerful and really gets in there and gets the job done. No ifs ands or buts. Happy to be an owner.

Used and it does a great job pulling up the matted down grass.

The build is solid and it works great. The two things to consider is that the catch bag is too small and you need a TON of battery power as it EATS through them! I have a lot of battery capacity, but if I didn't, I would recommend the corded version.

Good unit but keep in mind to have an idea how to control the power cord.

I purchased the WG850 at my local Canadian Tire. I returned it two hours later. Upon opening the box sand appeared everywhere. I removed the cover and vacuumed all sand that could be seen. When I started the motor it lasted 5-10 seconds before burning out. It is interesting that the bag full of sand that ruptured seems that it is supposed to be there. Maybe to give this unit some weight??

I received the dethacher late Thursday, I used it the next day. It lasted about 20 minutes then the blade quit spinning. I unplugged it, turned it upside down and saw that grass had spun around both ends of the blade connectors. Only thing to do was take it apart and clean everthing up. It was not easy to remove the blade. The website has zero replacement blades. No replacement washers. You can see from the photos the plastic does not hold up. Sooo, disappointed. It's not for use on St. Augustine grass here in south Texas. Going to have to return. Sooo, disappointed
