This is such an inexpensive way to buy bacon, particularly if you don't care about consistent size and shape. We don't. In fact, we love getting the different sizes and shapes. Sometimes, you get a thick bite of ham, sometimes a big bite of crunchy fat. One of the best things about this bacon is that some pieces are so large that it's perfect for flavoring a big pot of beans or greens. This is a repeat purchase for our family.
There's a lot in the package and I didn't plan to divide it up. I thought I could use all of it at one time. Nope! I saved all the longer strips and used them for BLT sandwiches - absolutely great! I also baked the smaller pieces and chopped them for potato toppings. They're quite versatile for cooking and they taste so good!
It's very flavorful and cooks up nicely. Just be careful when frying, because the smaller pieces cook faster than the larger ones! I know this sounds crazy, but I love the fat pieces they cook up so nice and crispy! It's great for making beans, or seasoning greens! I use it when I cook, Brussel sprouts I hope they don't quit making it! Again, just remember to keep an eye on it ,because the different sizes cook at different rates! I'm gonna go make some right now!
We love this bacon! Its delicious whether you like it just a little crispy or a lot crispy, which is my favorite way. And everything we cook in the leftover bacon grease comes out next level delicious! I love it wrapped around stuffed jalapeños, crumbled into green beans or mashed potatoes making your side dishes the star of the show, or wrapped around a beef hot dog on the grill or on a bacon cheeseburger. It's gotta be my favorite ingredients of every meal!
I love buying this item. I use it for many recipes. I freeze some of it for breakfast or recipes. The bacon ends and pieces is very delicious and a very verstile item to use.
So This is perfect for salads or other meat.Or cheese or salad or sandwich or whatever kinds of things that don't need flat, perfect cuts of bacon. They just need the flavor plus you'll get a lot of lard from it for cooking
even though it's bits and pieces I love product because I can fry bacon to eat and the bigger pieces for beans but not good for jalapeno bombers though ..lol
This is to quality meat, but not to quality cuts. As the name says, it's and and pieces. Good for flavoring soups, stews, and beans. We even render them and sprinkle on salads.
These are great but they are for the first time in my life losing stars due to price increases. This is not top tier bacon. This is what you get to season greenbeans or beans with. It is what you might eat for your normal bacon if you do not have much money. However the prices increases for this are often too comparable to higher quality bacon. If we evaluate it as normal bacon this is where teh problem comes in. A lot of the slices are way too fatty and have no meat at all. To be clear I love fatty bacon. The issues is sometimes you may have 30-40% of the package with pieces that are only fat. So pricing this too close to normal bacon is going to make this a no for me. I am only willing to accept this if the price is right.
When I opened the package, it was not what I was expecting. I thought this would be small cuts of bacon that didn't make it into full strips for packaging. It was not like that at all! I threw out close to 1/2 of it because the pieces were totally white pork fat. I guess these were ends and pieces? Just fat-not a smidge of protein on them at all! Thickness ranges from thickness of thick sliced bacon to 1/2” thick pieces of fat, several inches long. What was left had only a very little bit of lean included. If all you want to do is to add bacon fat to cooking for flavor, go for it. If you were intending (like I) to cook this in advance, thinking to keep bits of cooked bacon in the freezer to sprinkle onto eggs or salads, etc., do not bother with this! There's so much waste for that endeavor, that it ends up costing far more per pound than sliced, cooked bacon! It was very, very salty, too! More hit the trash after cooking. Save your $$.
