I have used these for at least 3-4 years. This one was the easiest setup yet. Hopefully it will last longer than the first ones I bought several years ago. When you have about a dozen of these things and a couple refuse to attach to the wifi network, its an issue with the plug. Wyze support basically said too bad so sad. I have several of their products so you just dont want to switch horses in the middle of the stream. I will say attaching it to the network was quicker than last year.
We already had Wyze Cameras so it was a no brainer to get our plugs on the same system. The plugs were so easy to connect and control with our phone. We have them on so many things and I love them enough I am going to place an order to buy more for my Christmas trees. I love that I can simply set a timer and they come on and go off. They are truly the perfect plug.
Wyze plugs do exactly what they were designed to do, turn on and off. These are great for appliances and devices you only need to turn on and off. However, it would be great to have a different model designed for use for dimming lamps (just a thought)
I love these things. I have one for my tractor's radiator heater, so I don't have to make a visit to the garage to turn it on in anticipation of snow plowing, etc. I also have one for my entertainment system's power supply so when it gets out of sync, I can do a power-reset from my easy chair.
I keep blowing the manual rocker switch out of my Lelit expresso machine (I have gone through 4 in 2 years) so thought I'd try the 15A Wyze plug. Seems to be working fine, and wonderful bonus not having to wait for the machine to warm up after power up (timer starts in advance of my usage).
I have literally dozens of these smart plugs, which tells you I find them very useful. I have two homes and use them to make the unoccupied one look as if it's not vacant. I also use them to restart many electronic devices each night allowing them to update software and all the other good things that come with a restart. Types of things that get restarts include: Modem & Router, Echo Devices, Televisions, Boiler & AC, and Smart Thermostats. That's a lot of value for a very low price.
Purchased because I previously had good experience with this smart plug, and to replace existing smart plugs in our house. I use those as timers for lamps with multiple bulbs, and for hard to reach outlets behind furniture. Fortunately for Wyze, I'm in the market because of sunset policy, my smart plugs were less than 10 years old. I hope Wyze sticks around for a long time.
My original thought was to reboot the modem on a regular schedule by powering off for a minute and back on, which worked fine until it tried to perform a firmware update. It seems it cannot download the entire update before losing internet connection. The update failed.
Plug works fine. However, it would be even better if app can allow different setting on the plug's status light or on/off button. For instance, let status light or on/off button to be lite when plug is at off position, this will provide guidance on where to manually active device.
This is a wonderful item, with the time change, It gets dark so early. Set the timer to go on and off whatever time you want. It’s nice to have the lights on when I come home plus my dogs don’t have to wander around in the dark before we get home. Vacation mode is a good idea as well.
