X-Acto Ranger 55 Manual Pencil Sharpener, Black, Wall Mountable

We first purchases a cheap plastic X-ACTO sharpener that had a suction bottom and was under $10.00. It never suctioned itself to anything, no matter what we tried. The plastic container literally broke and it would get the pencil tips stuck inside it. What a piece of trash! Then we upgraded to this gem. The base is metal, no breaking there! It has a dial so that any sized pencil will fit, which we use all the time. The base screws down, which works great for us. Yes, this was more than double the cost of the other one, but WELL worth it! We home-school, so this is an essential element to our daily program. It's been a great investment. No regrets spending the money for it. :)

This sharpener is sturdy, it has good weight and sharpens everything extremely well. It's also one that won't leave the room like the little pocket sharpeners that go missing. The seemingly high quality sharpening blades make everything super sharp (careful!) without grinding and breaking the lead into stumps. Seems it should literally last a lifetime.

Excellent heavy duty sharpener. We mounted it to the wall easily and sharpened even the hardest of colored pencils with ease.

and construction. Its design appears to allow it to be installed on a vertical surface as a wall or horizontal surface, right side up or upside down as on the topside or underside of a table at the edge and be equally as functional. The only objection I have is with the length of the screws supplied with the mechanism. They should be 1/2" to 5/8" longer to be installed on a standard residential wood stud framed wall, sink through the 1/2" sheet rock and into the wood framing member. Had I known that at the onset, I could have picked up longer screws at the store from which I purchased the sharpeners and saved a trip to the hardware store. Other than that, I have found no issues to report. I purchased three sharpeners; two for grandchildren and one for myself. Should I have the opportunity to recommend or purchase and install mechanical pencil sharpeners in the future, these will be my first choice every time.

Got this sharpener for a senior independent living facility with 800+ residents. Nice large size and it sharpens pencils very sharp.

Nothing is perfect in this world. We have tried numerous sharpeners in our school, including high end electric ones. Nothing has worked like this heavy duty unit. This is the 5th since last year that we have bought. Still sharpening!

I had to repair the sharpener before I could use it. Once I got the thing out of the box I wouldn't operate properly. I dismantled it to find one of the blade pins wasn't fully installed, I seated the pin with a punch and hammer, reassembled and now it works properly.
