I got it for the same price and didn't have to pay shipping like Academy
I am really happy with this machine. I get a good workout but it is also not putting a lot of stress on my knee. I currently have a torn ACL and also had my Meniscus repaired a year ago. I am able to get through my workout without pain. This was the main reason I bought this machine, I used a similar one in Physical Therapy after my surgery. The only 2 small things I wish could be changed is not having anywhere to put a water bottle and the handles are awkward and will flop around if you chose not to use them. It does take a couple hours to put together and a lot of patience, but definitely worth it.
Likes. Easy to use does not hurt knees or back and good work out Make sure to plug in computer before you use it. The levels are controlled by the computer Dislikes. Very heavy to move Arm adjustments awkward seat sliding mechanism is faulty be careful adjusting the seat
I was skeptical till it came. the instructions for putting together stink, but the machine itself is nice! The seat is comfortable. it's easy to set up and works as well as the 4k unit at Pulmonary Rehab. I can now continue my therapy at home. Our community gym doesn't have anything I can use other than the pool and hot tub. I need this to continue getting my strength back. Its set up in my living room, so I will use it every day. I did put it on a mat to protect the wood floor.
Don't be intimidated with assembly. We are in our high seventies and managed with some time and patience to assemble. Husband had open heart surgery and used seated stepper at hospital. This Xterra is comparable at much less cost. Everyone at Xterra and Walmart was super nice polite and helpful. Hard to find these days. Jayme Walker from Xterra took time to discuss our questions and concerns before our purchase. Great product and company in our book.
When we bought the bike we had someone scheduled to assemble it. They did a great job and the bike is smooth running and makes no noise. We are very pleased with it and my husband and I both use it. We are up in our 70s and needed something to help us keep active, this bike is just perfect for our use. Easy on the knees and back. He is 6' 2" tall (long legs) and this bike is perfect for him. Very good quality.
There is one major flaw with this! Under the seat is a wire that plugs in that I'm assuming has to do with the heart rate monitor. Well if you peddle the peddle is going to get hooked onto this wire and break it! If you try to tape it like I ended up doing it's ok as long as you unplug the wire first and wrap it around the seat handle then adjust your seat and then get off and go unwrap the wire, plug it back in and then take a piece of duct tape and tape the wire out of the way leaving no slack otherwise it will snap if you peddle. You have to do this everytime you need to adjust the seat!
The RSX1500 Seated Stepper was easy to assemble, but the seat refused to budge forward or backwards. We contacted Xterra about the problem and they said they could send a replacement part to us in 45 to 60 days and have a technician come to the house and install it. Instead, my husband disassembled it down to the seat bracket and calibrated bar. Then he sprayed silicone lubricant in between the two assemblies using gravity from both sides. It would then slide perfectly. He believes the problem stems from the item setting for a long period in some storage area. I recommend the company makes sure the seat slide is lubricated properly before shipping. Otherwise, the seated stepper is a great piece of exercise equipment.
Putting the stepper together was a challenge, but we got it working. Technical help was was readily available and very friendly and helpful. The machine is excellent for the workout I wanted. I am shorter than most (4'11"). The stepper adjusts for me, but I find getting off is challenging and I must be careful because of a weak right leg.
I would gave a 5 stars rating,, if no following issues.. 1. The user guide doesn't contained all information to operate this bike. 2. There is an error message "E4", which i'm still waiting for customer support rep. to get back to me. 3. This bike seems have noise issues according to most of reviews and I did have the same problem until I lubricated all joins. There are many plastic spacers in used, if I have to apply lubrication all the time then these plastic spacers may not last long. 4. The "heart rate" sensor is not working all the time. According to a customer support rep. said: TV may be the cause for this sensor not working ?????. I still couldn't make it works consistently (with tv off) and I'm not sure this is a working feature. 5. There is a height, weight, age setting, but it won't save the info. you entered. CSP said this feature "may be" shouldn't included on this Rsx1500 bike. Another ????!!
