There is only one disappointment I have about this scanner: while it can talk to my Mercedes, it doesn't have it in its manufacturer library. Overall, it's a good value for the money. Shipping was on time. I would buy it again if that makes sense. I have used it for everything I need it to do so far.
This was bought to find out if it worked with parking aid sensors. It surprised me that it gives a code for right outer circuit, and I checked the wiring and found a kinked wire. It's a good that it tells bad circuit. This tool does a lot more than advertised.
I was able to diagnose the issue and change the spark plug in about 15 minutes instead of a mechanic requesting $200+ to do the job. Well worth the money.
This unit is very user friendly and easy to use. It scans my 2500 and 1500 Dodges in 30 minutes, saving me over 1k in incorrect diagnoses. The dealer charged me 300 dollars per diagnosis.
I used this scan tool for the first time to scan an ABS problem at my auto repair shop. It found the ABS problem, fixed it all, and made money back from the very first time we turned it on.
For my BMWs, I have purchased many scanners. The XTOOL scanners are the best so far. It has a bigger screen which makes it much easier to use. Codes and live data were needed to turn off the ABS light, I also found out the reason my cruise control was not working!
Essentially, I bought this because I need to change brake pads in a car that has an electronic parking brake. I was able to put the car into the brake change mode so I could change the pads (two thumbs up!).In my car, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, each rear wheel must be set independently, and the scanner loses communication when the mode is changed. So I had to try it again and again.
The tool performs as advertised, feels comfortable, and does not feel cheap. However, the tool may not work exactly as advertised for your vehicle. There are many diagnostic features on the tool. However, there are only a few maintenance features. I ordered this tool because I only needed the EPB feature. It comes with that and oil reset.
It's not something I've used much, but from what I've seen it seems pretty nice and will be useful. I wish the case coudl be better. I may search for another case.
There are lots of things it can do, you just have to learn how to use it. I'm sure an experienced mechanic would be able to use it better than someone who is new to scanning.
