Great smart lock, what I was looking for. It works with Alexa, Google and Apple platforms. You can share digital keys for guests as well which is cool.
Easy install, affordable and a solid lock. The only drawback is I wish they would add Z-Wave to it, you have to buy the more expensive lock for that. Either way, great lock for the money, much better than the comparable Schlage. I had one of those previously and it was junk. Buy the Yale.
Very easy to install and use. App is also easy to use. Only had a few times that the lock did not read my print the first time. I'd buy it again and would recommend it to others.
Functions well enough as a stand-alone smart lock and has a relatively minimal form factor, but fails to stay connected to a WiFi network and won't sync up properly with HomeKit.
Ordered 2 locks. One installed fine but the motor to drive the bolt on the 2nd one was DOA. Support has yet to ship a replacement. So, the locks are just ok - support is far too slow!
The locked is great and works. The only reason why I give it a 3 is because the advertisement makes you believe it does homekey, which is why I bought it, but then doesn't. Just supports the Yale app on Apple Watch. The auto open would have been the saving grace but it's wildly inconsistent. Seems to maybe only work when I have the app opened on my phone which is incredibly dumb if that's the case. Why would I stand in front of my door and get my phone out and not just push the pin.
I want to love this, but I bought them to replace the prior generation, which wasn't reliable with HomeKit, and this one hasn't connected to Homekit for me yet. I had to bring my access point within 15' of this just to connect wifi. Hoping the release of the Matter module makes everything play nice.
The device is pretty good. I like how much smaller it is then the original but there is functionality that is really bad now. The wifi is SLOW, and the google home integration is really bad. When I open google home to lock or unlock my door it take 30 second to a minute for the button to even be ready for me to push. After I click on the lock to lock the door its a crap shoot whether or not it actually happens. Its spins it wheels for a long time and sometimes it locks and sometimes doesn't. Also my lock used to be able to disable my nest secure security system when I unlock the door, that functionality no longer exists. Luckily the yale app works for unlocking and the auto unlock work well.
I purchased this smart lock with the purpose of controlling it via HomeKit. A majority of the time it's not responding in the Home app which makes it near unusable with custom automations to lock/unlock. It seems to work fine in the Yale Access app, but I wanted a smart lock, not a lock that requires manual interaction. I have two Nest smart locks that were also developed by Yale, but clearly those locks have better software support and never have a problem with not responding in the Nest app. It's possible the network connectivity could be improved with a Yale Connect, but the company makes it impossible to buy one without it being included with something I don't need.
Difficult to connect to WiFi and Bluetooth. While Yale has online videos showing how to install the lock which I found helpful, The Yale instruction manual is written poorly and there is no online videos when it comes to connecting your new lock to WiFi or Bluetooth and it is for that reason why I have a fancy looking deadbolt with keypad that I use as a manual lock, just like the lock I had at a fraction of the cost before installing Yale.
