I really like the lock. It's easy to use. The only small flaws is locking the door isn't intuitive you have you learn to hit the Yale button. The other thing is you can't buy 2-3 locks and have them all keyed the same. Those would be great improvements. Instillation was very easy.
Easy to install, great price, lots of features, very easy to use. And very accurate.
Had some issues with setting it up through matter, which seems to be on my end. Once it was set up it worked great and looked great. Except one day it disconnected randomly and I had to reset my network to get it back. Not sure if it's the product or matter issues, but it's been a little challenging. Other than that, it's a good looking product and works pretty well.
We are very pleased with our Yale Smart Lock with Matter. From the very detailed installation instructions to how smooth the operation is with this lock, we are thrilled. It connects easily to our smart home system and can be controlled through Google Home. There are two drawbacks that have kept this from being a 5 star for me. 1. If I read correctly, this lock was supposed to identify the person that unlocked the door based on the code used. 2. This lock is supposed to be able to unlock automatically when specific people approach the door. Neither works in the Home app. It seems, from what I can see, that you need to use the Yale app specifically for these features to work. You can't use both Home and Yale at the same time for these features. That is not a winner in my book. I do not need another app that I have to access to control the device. All of my devices are accessible and controllable through the Home app. That is a shame as this is supposed to be the replacement for the Yale Nest lock that was dicontinued. I would still recommend it.
I love.my new lock. However, the installation guide is lacking key information regarding Matter and the need for a Thread router such as a second gen Google Nest Hub. I had to fumble.around and read internet posts to get things figured out.
Given that this is a matter device, I expected it to integrate seamlessly into my smart home, but it does not. It does not work well with home assistant at all, requiring that you enter the passcode any time you try to unlock remotely meaning it will be difficult to use for automations. Even in Google home, the ability to create automations is mediocre at best. Despite having door sense technology, there is no way to have it automatically lock when the door closes, only automatically locking after a set period of time. There is apparently no way to return the lock after installing it so buyer beware. The lock itself seems otherwise solid and the number pad works fine which is the only reason I couldn't give it one star.
When I try to use the Yale app, it said this lock is designed for Google home/matter. Great. I set it up in Google home and when I try to change settings such as "auto lock" it endlessly fais saying "Failed to change settings". When I realized that Goole/Matter don't offer all the same options as the Yale app I realized I wanted a different lock, as this one is less capable than my last one. I tried to return right away and they denied me because they don't return locks that are opened. Never shopping Yale again with those practices.
Unfortunately, I have to score this Lock the lowest available score. This lock is advertised as a matter lock that is designed for Google Home. For your information I have a 8 GB connection and Google fiber. I also operate my Home platform through Google Home. I've had over 150 devices connected to this for the past two years and utilize ubiquity unify APs throughout my home. All that said it would not connect via matter to my Google home. It became a brick in the door without any smart home, functionality or ability to create passcodes. When I contacted Yale they informed me that they did not know why the lock would not work with my matter device.I could not return it and was forced to use a different Lock. Yale assure lock 2. In process this took over two weeks and I'm still not reimbursed from their issue. This should never have been advertised as a Lock for Google home.
The integration with Google home is extremely poor compared to Nest. This was supposed to be the updated replacement for the Nest lock and it's about 2 steps backwards instead of an upgrade.
You can't have the app and google home working at the same time
