In addition to being a grade 2 lock, the Z-wave connectivity of this lock makes it a very compelling addition to any home with a smart hub, like SmartThings. I have many of these locks and it is delightfully simple to add one to the network, then assign codes and have it up-and-running in no time. The locks hold up very well to wear and some pretty harsh weather, yet remain responsive and functional. These continue to be my preferred locks, paired with SmartThings.
I have four of these locks integrated into my Elk home automation system. They work I flawlessly, and the battery life has been surprisingly impressive—over a year and still going strong. The only issue I've noticed is with strike alignment. I wish the adjustment process were a bit easier. One lock occasionally reports a position error because the bolt doesn't fully extend.
The entire reason I bought this look was because I wanted my door to unlock as I approached my house. The problem is that feature only works about 60% of the time. There are so many times when I approach my house and I have to manually enter a code. But the main reason I dislike this lock is because the door sensor doesn't work properly and the deadbolt constantly locks as I'm closing my door which causes the deadbolt to smash into the door frame. I have calibrated the sensor so many times, I have the delay lock timer set to 10 minutes but it still locks almost instantaneously when I open the door.
The lock lasted five years and then the electric motor failed. I called and found that the the lock is no longer under warranty. After examining the internals, corrosion was visible on the circuit board and motor. This lock was protected by the elements by and I would not expect this damage/corrosion
It broke just after the warranty expired. This is not acceptable for such an expensive product.
