When using make sure the water is on, otherwise the end will get plugged up. Poking a stiff wire or drill bit up the end will clear it. Work it slowly in the ground, then pull it out a couple of inches so the water will flow.
very easy to use. no assembly. attaches to normal hose for watering.
Works well and is much cheaper than I could find anywhere, including Amazon where I usually shop. It's made of solid metal. I've watered at least 20-25 large trees already, it's stays intact and works exactly as advertised. Totally worth it and the best way to reach the roots of your trees.
A few years ago I bought a deep root tree watering device similar to this one, but it was nearly impossible to push into the soil under my trees. I thought this one might be as hard also. But, when I hooked it up to the garden hose it went in easily, all the way up to the handle! WORKS GREAT!!! 5 STARS!!!
This product is the very best for keeping healthy trees. We live in New Mexico that is very dry and we use these exclusively as our watering means. We have 6 set up on timers and are the only people in the area that have healthy aspens. I LOVE this product.
I couldn't find anything like the Yard Butler in any local store. It isn't quite like I had owned in the past but it works great. The first time I used it I got the tip plugged with mud. I now know that I need to keep the water running as I push the tool into the ground. The tool it good and sturdy and I am glad I bought it.
I received the product recently and like the fact that there are 3 side holes rather than one bottom hole for water passage. This design enables the probe to lower into dirt without getting clogged with dirt. So important to make sure water is exiting holes as you lower probe into dirt so start with a gradual water flow. Before all this, test run the tool hooking it up to your hose to assure no water leaks from hose connection and water successfully comes out of the three side holes. Again, monitor its flow which I recommend a gradual flow of water, increasing or decreasing depending on the type or dryness of the soil. The rubber coated handles make gripping more comfortable; however, I recommend to keep it in a cool dark place so that over time the rubber has less chance to disintegrate.
The Tree Water Tool with the spout on the end plugs up with Texas black clay soil. As with the ones we bought a couple of years ago, we had to modify by flat filing on the tube and drilling a hole in the side. Your engineering should try the Tree Water Tool in real soil rather than their sandbox before signing off for production. The "T" hand bar design is good, and it works great when modified! If in Texas, Drill it!
The hose connection broke-off the first time I used it. Understand? The FIRST TIME I USED IT!!!! I put it in the ground, several minutes later took it out of the ground and it snapped off!!! I looked to see what could have happened and found the metal connection was about as thin as paper--CHEAP PAPER!!! I have been disappointed in the past with various products, as everyone has, but this thing takes the cake. Suggest Walmart look at what they are selling!!! Not good and does not inspire confidence in future purchases--especially via on-line.
A great idea that fell apart in my hands after 1 attempt to use. This water saving device would be perfect if manufactured to a higher quality that you would actually allow the hose receiver to stay connected to the main root feeder rather than being slipped on and can simple slip off...
