It was open box, in clearance, I only paid 99 dollars for it.what a deal, my riding mower just tore up so I needed it so I could mow the lawn one more time. Mow's great, easy to push, easier to ise then my snapper self propel, self propel needs a little work, so I had to get something, and I made a great choice, even more so at $99 dollars.
I bought one of these before and destroyed it due to hitting a big rock. I think for the price point, it cuts grass well and if I get it prepped for winter, I'm confident this one will start right up like the last one I had. I use it as a cheap sacrificial mower on my rural property so I don't accidentally hit a rock with the big rider mower.
This was the second lawn mower purchased, the first one had to be returned due to not working after quitting during the first use. This mower is wonderful. It started right up, has worked well on over a 1/2 acre of land. It has been great, cuts well, has not had any problems, oil and gas are easy to fill, and everything has worked fine. After the first experience, I was ready to give up on the brand. However, this machine has changed my mind. I was surprised that a little lesser cost mower would far surpass the larger, more expensive, model previously purchased. Please keep such quality mowers in stock in future years. Glad to let folks know that there is a very good quality product in this line.
Unboxed it, added oil and gas. Primed three times and it started on the first pull. Cons: - The mower doesn't come with an owner's manual, oil or a side discharge chute. Out of the box you will need to buy oil (18oz SAE 30 or 5W-30 full synthetic) and, if you want to side discharge, a discharge chute (MTD p/n: 731-07131) The manual is of course available online as a PDF and quick start instructions are printed on the box. - The dipstick / oil fill hole is in an awkward location. You can remove the fill cap with a large flat head screw driver and a long narrow funnel will help you add oil. This family of Briggs
I like this mower so much. I've had one for over a decade and it still cranks up first time. I bought a second one for my daughter's home. It's small size cuts down on the amount of weed-eating that needs to be done because it's very easy to use in places the riding mower can't get to. Great safety lever on the handle which stops the motor if your hands release it.
This lawn mower is exactly as described. It was easy to set up and does an excellent job cutting grass. It is a much better mower than my, albeit, quite a bit older model. Hard to imagine a better machine for the money for my very modest lawn, certainly for the price. Very satisfied.
I had to call my son-in-law to set up the handle of my new mower. The directions weren't clear to me. He had it set up and ready to go within 15 minutes. I'm 79 years old, but it took only about 75 minutes to mow 2 hours worth of mowing!! My new mower looks small, but is mighty, and hard working. I didn't realize what a battle it was, using my old mower, till I used my new one! Love my new mower!
Replaced a mower with a bent shaft with this one which is similar without the big wheels in the back. Starts easy, works great, no issues. Other reviewers who said the pull start wouldn't move probably didn't loosen the nuts that hold the handle to the mower to pull it up off the blade from shipping and re-tighten them. Duh.
suck to buy a new machine...that's missing parts and then spend a lot of time waiting on the Yard Machine phone line trying to talk to someone to get help... IT's not RIGHT! They should reimburse us for the time we waste. What are corporations thinking....oh I get it WE HAVE ALL THE POWER!
It was obvious from the oil on the box, top of the lawnmower %26 the fact that the oil was full that it had previously been returned. The cord was jammed to start the motor. Not a good idea to pass a defective item on to someone else. Now I have to go through the expense %26 inconvenience of returning something that should not have been sold.
