We use the walk-behind string trimmer all over a lake property for multiple jobs. It's lighter than a lawn mower and of course it cuts very high grasses and weeds. This is the second one I've owned with the first being 20 years old or so and the brand was Viper. Having said that they all are very similar and the older one was most likely made in China as well. I am having a surgery and my wife simply wanted a new unit. As fro the YardMax, I expect very good service and was pleased that it was a one pull start from the onset. We have always used a heaver string on our cutters with no problem.
I like the on/off switch and the way the line stays tight. Fast delivery
Sometimes it starts right up and other times it seems like I'm pulling forever, but it cuts great along my fence line and in my yard as well, I have 1 acre and sometimes I use it for my whole yard .
This is so much better than carrying a weed whip if you have a large area to do. It easily took care of a large patch of tough rush down near our lake shore. I did have some difficulty pushing it over bumpy areas (I'm an in shape 65 yo woman) but with a little extra ooomph, I was able to get it over anything. I did wear safety glasses but I think I was only hit once with cut debris. I left off a star because it arrived without the tube that holds the extra string and attaches to the handle. I have to get a picture of the missing piece (seems silly - as I just have a blank spot on the handle where it goes) to get Yardmax to send one to me.
This works great once it starts. One of the best features is that it stays running if you let go of the pull handle to move a branch out of the way. The only real complaint is that it is one of the hardest "easy start" trimmers to start. We've changed out the line in the middle of working, and have had to pull the cord multiple times to get it to restart. Sometimes the pull cord becomes hard to pull and snaps out of our hand if we don't have a good grip. It's been great otherwise in the short time we've had it.
Missing component
Pros-- Easy to put together %26 use. Cranks like a dream. Cons-- I wish the handle was a bit longer. If you are over 6' tall, you will need long arms. LOL!
I bought one online,, and was missing a lock nut of wheel. They said they could not send me one. I had to go buy one myself at a nearby store.
we tried many different ways to get the cables to connect and not fly off, including the one provided by the manufacturer. The mower did well at regular side of the house grass, yet there were still issues with the cables flying off. The mower absolutely did not perform when trying to do taller ditch grass.
i was very excited when i bought this item, very eager to start using it. the ignition is a challenge and to use it also. it's very hard to push.
