I shopped the Internet for a T post driver and saw some as much as $2000 more than this one. I was a little skeptical at first but Walmart was actually $150 less than other sellers of this same item. So far I have driven over 400 posts and it's worked flawlessly. If you hit a root, give the post a couple of taps with a hand driver then continue with gas driver. Starts easily and uses hardly any fuel. Just had an issue putting the driver head on. If you get one hold the shaft with a pair of vice grips and tap the driver head on.
Been driving t posts 2 feet easily in rough terrain. Won't go thru rocks but drives it where it can with minimal effort. Takes about 20 seconds to do what a few minutes takes by hand. Leave it running and go post to post with the ranger you can go for days.
in 2016, I was looking for a jack hammer that wasn't tied down by an electric cord or attached to a compressor hose. I wanted something that was portable, strong and reliable. I bought the earlier model through YESCOM and it proved to be amazing. I was installing a 1000 ft. fence line through hard solid blue rock and that gas jackhammer pulled it through. Augers got torn up but the jackhammer with its one pull start all the time came through for me. I just purchased another one about a month ago with the same results. I had to buy another one because the original one I bought had a fuel window that corroded because it was made with some kind of hard clear plastic of which there was no parts available. It still starts with one pull and I replaced the fuel window with a cork but i am going to use it as a back up Hammer. All in all I am really satisfied with the product.
I was skeptical in purchasing this light wt. T post driver due to some of the reviews but I got to tell you it worked great in my clay, hard soil except when I encountered a large rock. The start was mostly on 1 pull, not much recoil, not much smoke and used very little gas. Only issue was the pounder would not seat into machine-came out each time when moving on to new T post to pound-very hot-need gloves to put back in. Overall, great machine.
My rating for 5 stars in for this company. They are fantastic. The machine was beautiful and easy to use, but unfortunately it did not do the job I needed it to. I ended up doing my post holes by hand. I really, really wanted it to work (ie 90-100 t posts), but it did not drive my posts in the ground at all.
I'm putting in over 300 T posts for new pastures in very hard ground. I drilled pilot holes with an auger to set the post upright, then hammered them in with this driver. It worked better than I could have expected. The only negative is it's weight and needing to climb up a ladder with it to get above the T post. My arms and shoulders got a work-out, but that is to be expected.
Your service was fantastic. It came by UPS on date scheduled. It works great and saved so much time. The cows are happy in their new fenced in pasture! Thank you for your good service!
Easy ordering and fast shipping! I ran the unit in with non ethanol gasoline with 40:1 Amsoil Dominator 2-stroke oil. I heat cycled the engine three or four times without putting a heavy load on it. I operate it with 50:1 mix. The T- post pounder is heavy (it has to be to work) and tall so I started the posts with a traditional handheld pounder then finished up with 10 to 15 seconds of gas power. I installed about 100 posts in an hour which normally would take twice that time and 3 days of sore neck and shoulders. The few complaints that I have is that the kill switch is in a terrible position and more than once while hoisting the pounder on top of a post I accidentally hit the kill button. Also, the recess in the drive head is quite shallow so you have to hold it vertical on top of the post,. However,, if it were deeper, it would be very difficult to lift it over a 6' post. Another thing is to feather the throttle and keep it in mid-range if it goes too fast it just vibrates and doesn't drive. Overall I am very pleased, I'm glad I made the purchase. I have 400 feet of fence to install and I'm not dreading it like I have been for the past few months. I gave it 4 stars because of the Kill switch and some of the other pieces aren't so durable. I plan on taking good care of this unit, I hope to be able to report in a year on how well it's performed.
Got busy doing a different project, converting a horse trailers dressing room to living quarters, so l have not used it yet. It is fairly heavy, which should help drive the posts. I only have 145 posts to drive, for now.
I THINK THAT IT'S TO HEAVY BUT I HAVEN'T TRIED IT YET TODAY IS WHEN I'LL USE IT
