So far I have just tried the flux core option but it seems to work alot better than my previous welder I am excited to use the solid core and aluminum options in the future this makes my third yeswelder product and I am happy with all of them

It was OK to weld with this equipment

Im a semi retired building contractor who took on a full time job as the physical facility's manager at a local fabrication shop. 90% of my job is improving properties. Building compressor shed etc. etc. as not slow down production many of my projects involved some sort of welding. I decided that it was time to learn. With help and tips from my co workers, I started out on a 110 miller mig welder, and absolutely loved it. When it came time to find a personal welder to use at home I did a lot of research and decided on the mg205ds. I'm very happy with it so far. On the mig and stick it welds just as good as the bigger Millers I moved up to. The instructions on the controls are a little lacking, but YouTube videos made up for it. The ONLY thing I was not liking was how the nozzle threaded on to the tip with a plastic bushing that melted in the first 30 minutes…. The plastic is melted and the nozzle drifts, which messed with the wire feed when in sank too deep. The trigger feel is great, but maybe on the next revision I'd deal with that. 4 out of 5! 5 out of 5 on the price.

The price on the welder was excellent. The big expense to get started on welding is the regulator and tank that will set you back 2x more than the welder itself. I have only used it for FCAW and GMAW so far so can't comment on other processes it is capable of. The manual is OK for the hardware setup but virtually useless for adjusting settings. Digging around on the Yeswelder site or Youtube in general for any official tutorials on how to use the available settings is a snipe hunt. It has a Synergic setting that is supposed to take much of the settings guesswork out of the process. Is there a setting hidden somewhere that you can tell it what metal thickness you are working with? I did find a video of some guy reviewing the welder who somehow got ahold of a list of codes and their definitions. But there was no info on how/why to adjust these settings. If you are selling an entry level welder you would assume that it is being purchased by entry level welders and supply support materials accordingly. I have written many user manuals for technical equipment over the years and I would have been fired after the first one if I put out a manual as useless as this one. I am hoping that the internet eventually provides some sort of useful tutorial on all the fancy customization settings on this welder so that I can improve my welding. The side door is poorly designed. Getting to the wire to feed it through the line is a real pain. It does not have to be. Just make the door opening extend over the front of the feed mechanism instead of hiding it behind the cover! Wow, what a miss at design review time at Yeswelder. Another nit to pick is why there is no flux core nozzle supplied with the welder. Probably pennies to include it. Can't even find one on the Yeswelder site for sale! Luckily, your local Home Depot carries Lincoln parts that work. I have found that the FCAW and GMAW make nicer welds than the old beat up machines available in my local JC welding class shop.

The welder was good for about 4 days and then it started sparking when the motorized wire feed button on the control panel it pressed. It still works otherwise (wire advance through the hand grip), and it generally speaking, I would have been very pleased with the unit if it didn't have this low-quality manufacture issue.
