The Rugged Book Apple iPad for 9th generation is by far the best case with keyboard I have found. I wish that there was one charging port rather than a separate one to charge the case. Otherwise this case is what it says it is..rugged. This is second time purchase of Zagg cases. Would highly recommend this case.
I'm a fan of rubbery cases, it seems like more iPad and iPhone cases are available with a plastic feel. I like the grippiness of a rubber case. It feels protective and allows you to maintain a good grip. After purchasing the case, I was surprised not to find a track-pad which I hadn't noticed wasn't part of the unit when I purchased it. With that said, when I had past iPad cases with track-pads, I still found myself touching the screen often to access apps so it isn't a big deal not to have one. Additionally the absence of the track-pad provides more real estate for the keyboard to be a little larger which is important for a keyboard designed for an 11" iPad. The iPad dismounts easily which is convenient. I haven't used it that much since I now have a MacBook NEO but my early impressions are that this is an excellent case at a very nice savings over Apple's Magic Keyboard. The Zagg case provides more protection than the Magic Keyboard. I recommend it!
I am particularly rough on my tablets, and Zagg did not disappoint! The case is beefy, the keys have a good spring to them, and the magnetic hinge allows me to turn the tablet around when I'm not using the keyboard. I wish they still had this for the iPad mini 5, but it more than serves for my 11 inch iPad Pro. Thanks again for a great case!
Really pleased with the Rugged Book. Solid and holds my iPad firmly in place. Being able to detach the screen from the keyboard or flip it around for video conferences is a real plus. The only downside is that it's a little heavy. I was hoping it would be lighter than the one it replaced (which had a hung failure after a year). Very satisfied with it.
This case is the best! I use this case at my job as a paramedic in a large city. We use it for our incident charting. It's been dropped never breaks, it gets opened and closed a hundred times in a 12 hour work day and stands the test! I love it so much I bought one of my own! Worth it !!
I spent many hours reading reviews, going to local stores before making a purchase. Some family members have iPad's with various brands and types of cases or keyboard/case combinations including the Apple set up. The Zagg Rugged is exactly that, rugged. If you are looking for a lightweight case/ keyboard look elsewhere. This Zagg is built for daily use on jobsites, outdoors and other uses where conditions aren't ideal. The weight of the keyboard helps maintain balance when the the case is opened. The detachable hinge feature allows use without the keyboard. I highly recommend the Zagg rugged book.
Great iPad case and keyboard!! The case is very sturdy, protects the iPad nicely and is very secure inside. Very convenient that the iPad is easily detachable from the keyboard. Made of Excellent material. The keyboard is great overall, and has all The features I would want in a keyboard and I love the light up feature for the keys. The battery stays charged for a very long time, I haven't had to charge it since I received it a couple of weeks ago. 10/10 would purchase again and recommend!
I read some reviews that say the Rugged Book makes the iPad feel a bit heavy. YES, GIVE ME ALL OF THAT! This is the Rugged Book after all. Not the “Cheap Flimsy Book”! By far the best iPad case I've ever owned, and I used to be a Catalyst customer. Zagg has them beat in terms of impact protection.
Rugged alright. Super heavy and unwieldy. Only reason I got this is that it was the only keyboard case that fit an old iPad. If other, lighter keyboard cases were available, I wouldn't have gotten this one. It is high quality and does work, though. The quick start guide doesn't give good instructions, particularly not a location of the Bluetooth buttons.
They removed features (like the charging port cover) from the previous model that made the previous model so much superior over this one. The pencil holder is too big as the OEM Apple Pencil falls out of it if tilted or upside down. The redesign was a poor decision except with the new touch button. You couldn't really do much with that. The back material is too slippery. Who tested this redesign?? It's overpriced in my opinion. I'll only buy another one if I find a good discounted deal or good sale. Otterbox makes one (Achiever Series) that can be more expensive depending on the keyboard language you pick but its design makes ZAGG design look like stage 1 draft with the final product several stages away. The Otterbox design isn't without its issues; however, I own both. ZAGG and Otterbox are really the only two real competitors. There are vendors that make cheap holders with keyboards and I've tested several but I would want to drop them on anything harder than a mattress.
