I really love this product. I use it to take my sausage and peppers recipe to another level. Every time I make it for meal preps, I get tons of compliments and good reviews.

Absolutely Delicious

Robert April 21, 2020

Really easy to prepare etoufee (a cajun gravy). I use it with all kinds of extra ingredients to boost it's flavor (extra celery, onion and bell peppers), then add either crawfish tails, angostino lobster (more or less a cross between lobster and craw fish tails), shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage - or a mixture of up to 3 different proteins. Love it.

New Orleans born and bred but living in Cali

thecovertina October 7, 2016

I have to agree with the previous poster. This is about as close to New Orleans as you can get without traveling. I recommend only getting mixes that do not include rice. The dishes with rice are okay for eating "right now" but saving anything for later results in a swollen and mushy rice experience as the rice continues to absorb the liquids long after cooking is done. In New Orleans, these traditional recipes like etouffee, gumbo, creole, or beans with rice all have the rice cooked separate from the sauce or base. Keep that in mind and you're on a good path. You may also want to chop a small amount of the trinity (celery, onions, bell peppers) say a half cup each of celery and bell pepper, and a cup of onions, cook in butter or bacon grease (not the healthiest choice but adding it makes a huge difference), and cook until the onions are translucent. Dump these cooked veggies into your mix along with your mix and use chicken broth or Swanson's Cajun broth instead of water. Magnificent.

Zatarain's Etouffee - Delicious!

Lindask01 February 20, 2018

When I'm not in the mood to make Etouffee from scratch, Zatarain's is a tasty, easy alternative. Nice combination of spices and smooth consistency. Living in a Mountain state, it is difficult to find it; until, I went on line and found it at Walmart. The price is in line with what I paid for it when I lived down South. I make it with fresh shrimp and/or crawfish. It's also good with most types of sausage and chicken breast.

Zat Rocks

The product was perfect for what I needed. Zatarain's is the closet you will get to experiencing New Orleans without actually being there.

BEST BASE EVER!!

survile November 25, 2019

I have tried quite a few bases but i have always come back to Zatarans. They flavor of the sauce is amazing with just enough spice to have a bit of heat but not burn.

Like New Orleans

Tom July 24, 2018

This is an incredible product. Add shrimp and a little tomato paste and you have etouffee that tastes like it does in New Orleans.

Gelatinous but tastes good

mathsorocks March 26, 2020

This was very good. The only thing I didn't like was that it was just a bit too gelatinous. Maybe they could fix that texture. Otherwise, it was great. I will continue to buy when I am too lazy to make homemade etoufee.
