ZealSound Gooseneck Microphone Stand
PQR: Good
QUALITY: Good with Caveats
All parts are well machined and threads are good.
EASE OF USE: Lacking
While everything goes together and comes apart easily, this gooseneck is so stiff it is really ludicrous (one star removed from rating).
I am not a weak person and have a strong grip and this thing was challenging to bend into position.
I hung a 5-lbs. weight from it and it didn't budge.
I can't stand weak floppy goosenecks, but this is too far to the other extreme.
Another star is removed for the included mic clip.
It is of good quality, but regular mics like SM57s and SM58s (shown in the item's misleading description) are not going to be held by this large clip (see my photos of a normal mic in this clip).
This clip is designed for large diameter broadcast mics such as the SM7B or the Yeti Blue. But almost every broadcast mic comes with its own mounting system because they're large and heavy.
But if you want to put a large broadcast cardioid mic in this clip, it and the super stiff gooseneck will hold it with ease!
The clamp works well and has a nice and thick piece of rubber stuff to help keep it from slipping around while you're wrestling with the gooseneck for your daily forearm and grip strength exercise.
DO I RECOMMEND?: Well, Ya Know, Kinda
If you can live with the stiff gooseneck and you have your own mic clips for regular-sized cardioid mics, then yeah.
Get right on out there and getcha some, Goolisan!
