Very happy, wish I'd ordered it long ago! I've been drinking brown-tinted water from a new well for 1.5 years, and my first glass from this pitcher was amazing. I could tell the difference right away. I use it for the cat, my coffee, etc. Wish the pitcher was a bit bigger since I'm constantly refilling it.
It's all about the filter. I finally replaced my 10 cup zero water system for the 7 cup unit. The design of the 7 cup pitcher is barely adequate. The top comes in two pieces that are a challenge to line up properly for a secure fit. Attaching the filters are a challenge as well. It is difficult to align the threads for a secure leakproof fit. But it is really all about their superior filter that purifies my water. That is what is most important to me, but having a better designed pitcher would be ideal.
I recently purchased the zero water filter to replace my reverse osmosis under sink system, trying to find a more cost-effective way to filter my very high TDS water. I tested my water straight out of the tap with the included TDS tester and it was nowhere close to The same results as a TDS tester that I already had. The included TDS tester showed TDS of 100 or so. My TDS showed it as well over 700. I then tested the filtered water using my personal tester and it's coming in at around 100. I'm still going to use the filter, but I certainly wouldn't trust the included tester.
The machining of the pitcher is HORRENDOUS. Really cheaply made compared to Brita. The cartridge doesn't fit well and it took me 30 minutes to screw it properly. Otherwise filter itself was good and did a much better job than Brita. I live by my own and this one filter lasted exactly one month. A bit pricey.
There doesn't seem to be quality control from the manufacturer. Once filled, the first one, from the weight of the saturated filter; the lid kept coming off. I was sent another one that is painfully slow at filtering the water into the pitcher. Would I buy another one? I doubt it.
Putting the parts together was tricky. There's a thin tube-like piece that is supposed to prevent leaking located on the top front lid. It kept coming off. Then, while that's falling off, you are also supposed to line up the posts to the matching holes. Good luck with that. The TDS stick wouldn't work. It is also tricky to operate. I tried 5 different kinds of water and none of them registered 000, including the Zerowater pitcher filled with water!! The filter that came with the pitcher was in a torn (cut) wrapping so maybe that's the problem. But at this point, my 3 stars is overly generous. The filters are 3 times more than what I've been paying for Brita filters. I could fill out a complaint form but I'd have to pay for shipping. It isn't worth the effort.
The filters only last about 2 1/2 weeks and are very expensive. After that, the water gets a chemical weird taste. The lid is hard to get off and put back on when trying to refill it and the little silicone gasket falls out sometimes when doing that as well. The filter clogs up like the filter media clogged up and doesn't let water through so you have to take it out and shake it and put it back in. If you have water in the top of it, you were unable to pour out the water that's already in the picture. Would definitely not recommend. The only reason I keep using it is because it does filter way more contaminants than other pictures on the market and will have to do until I can get a reverse osmosis under the sink unit installed. That is it's only saving grace.
The pour spout shoots water out its not user friendly. It also came with a tester which was cool but now I'm painfully aware that it DOESN'T filter as advertised. After following all directions the meter confirmed only half of contaminates was filtered as compared to tap. So if your looking for semi filtered water this is it. Same readings for brita only half removed. To conclude only bottled water tested 0.
Within 3 weeks, the provided water filter was ineffective and there was a fishy odor emitting from my filtered water. I believe this is because of the type of water filter that is provided. Not wasting time or money getting more filters for something that doesn't initially provide satisfaction.
This is the second time I've tried this water filter. The first being about 5 years ago in another location with apparently not as lousy water quality as where I'm at now. In both cases the water tasted ok after the first few uses and then for whatever reason the filtered water becomes increasingly sour tasting to the point of being undrinkable well before the advertised average filter life is reached. I understand that water quality varies greatly from place to place, but twice now with the very same issues with at least three different water sources is a bit too much. I've gone so far as to bring this current filter to a friend's house where their water quality is quite good with the exception of the chlorine and floride added to their city water which is something we can all do without and the very same issue arises with the water tasting sour even after a few times of use with the different water source. The replacement filter costs are astronomical and I definitely find it more cost effective for me to just keep on purchasing bottled water instead. Unfortunately this device is being returned for the second and last time.
